Jevs - tremendous job on that tropical tank. We've had a tropical tank for years now, but we've always struggled to maintain real plants, and always end up with the plastic ones.

Are the plants hard to make work, or are we just doing something very silly. They certainly get enough water!

You can get by with a good selection of hardy plants with good lighting,substrate and feeding them without going down the co2 route.

I just think that sometimes people have a fish tank in the corner of their lounge and it looks ok...nothing more, nothing less. However sometimes, people take it that one step further and actually do a bit of research into what plants like and how to grow them sucessfully.

Once you've made that step, it becomes a hobby. You then don't mind spending an extra bit of cash on better lighting or CO2 injection and even spending some decent money on good quality plants.

There's plenty of help out there on the web and by doing just a small amount of research into plant requirements, you'll go a long way to setting up a really superb planted tank
