As my daughter doesn't finish school until 15.20 I can't leave Bexhill until then to get to the march.

I was intending to drive to Falmer and then get the train to Brighton

Now I hear there is a park and ride from the race course which may be easier but will it be a pain to get to at that time of the day from the A27 ?

Which one will be better ?

FFS Now I have found out the engineering works at Falmer have been delayed and won't finish until four so that's that then, Park and Ride.

A Nimby must be in charge of the engineering works to try and keep fans away.

Plentiful free parking (no yellow lines, no meters, no residents only nonsense) in the streets around Preston Park, and a 5/5A/5B bus service down into town every ten minutes or so.

According the NATIONAL Rail Enquiries, the disruption to services between Lewes ans Brighton will last until about 4pm.

However, SOUTHERN Customer Services (08451 27 29 20) are saying that they hope to get the line between Lewes and Brighton re-opened at "about half-one / two o'clock".

Cheers Tom, that sounds an easier option, what number buses go back again after the march ?

Same numbers. 5/5A/5B There's a stop opposite side of the road where Hannington's used to be, and another stop outside the Pavilion.

All go along London Road to Preston Circus.

5 & 5A continue along the main road past such legendary landmarks at the Brewery Tap, Preston Park Hotel and the bottom of the lane at Withdean then on to Patcham.

5B turns right at the entrance to the park, then goes up into Preston Park streets. Up Beaconsfield Villas, down a bit of Preston Drove then into Surrenden Road and ends up at Hollingbury Asdas.

Recommended the 5B route, using the streets anywhere around the Park View pub in Preston Drove for parking.

Park and ride is running from the racecourse all day - last bus gets back to the course at 7pm so if your not back by then, you will need to make alternative arrangements - price is £2.50 and takes you from racecourse to clock tower
