Milan Mandaric has been 'bought out' by the Russian that now owns Portsmouth for £32M. I don't know if he made a profit from the deal but, assuming that he did, could he be heading our way next?

Bearing in mind that the final decision over Falmer is only about 3 months away he would be ideally positioned to offer a very large amount of cash to both help the project (assuming it succeeds) and finance the team.

I believe Mandaric is staying on as a non-executive chairman - surely this clash of interests would prevent him from having a controlling interest in any other club??

I believe that absolute ownership is the only criteria the FA/FL recognise. Mandaric is effectively an employee of PFC and would be free to seek alternative employment. Of course he wouldn't do that until he had somewhere to go to.

I know he's minted but so is Nicholas van Hoogstraten. Doesn't necessarily mean I want him investing in my club.

Someone I know at Portsmouth told me that he is also keen on Brighton because of the Marina. However, I understand that he is also interested in a Midlands club, but not Villa, Wolves

I think he'll be keen on Brighton because we might be a relatively cheap buy and because, like Pompey, we have the potential to do well quickly. If he can buy the club, take control over the new stadium and put 3 or 4 mill into the player budget he could be able to sell a Championship or Premership club on to another Russian with 'creative' finances within 2 or 3 years. He'll make about £10M or so and be able to move on to the next one (Plymouth?).

He comes across as someone bored of stadium/ground improvement issues, with a questionable track record of appointing managers but getting more of his gambles right than wrong - hence, above all, being a lucky chairman.

Maybe with our ground issues solved, we could do with such a lucky chairman?

But look at what he's done for Portsmouth, amazing turnaround. He established them in the Premiership and that eventually led to this Russian arms dealer bloke taking over.
