'I couldn't fault the lads commitment'.............................surely 'commitment' is part of the deal when you are a professional sportsman.

'We had 57% possession, 15 shots on target and we lost'..................................the only stat that matters is the final score.

'There has been no contact from (current managerless club) and unless I'm told otherwise I've got a job to do here'...........I'm not going to deny i would be interested in the position.

A variation on this theme was Steve Bruce talking about the Newcastle job...............................'Its disrespectful to Alan Pardew me being linked to his job.'
