Why doesn't anyoke care he was left 2 vs 1 all game? Doesn't that add any context? I thought he looked like a good player afraid to venture too far forward because he rightly knew that nobody would cover him.

Oscar's tactics left him bizarrely exposed and ultimately cost us the game because the winner came from that side. He deserved better than that on his league debut.

Agree with this. He did in fact look to get forward a couple of times in the first half, but was given absolutely no support by his team mates, and ended up in trouble.

On another occasion Dave played a beautiful cross field ball which Ulloa, due to our non existent left wing, had to drop back to the halfway line to receive. Maxi was the only player to give Ulloa any support by getting forward. Didn't look like a world beater but showed some potential; very unfair to criticise him for yesterday IMO.

He really suffered from having no left winger in front of him, both with and without the ball.

I agree with this. In the first half especially there were a couple of times where he just looked lost on the ball and ended up passing square because there wasn't anywhere else to go without working has way past two Derby players.

The one time that he did make a run forwards Ulloa held the ball a bit too long and couldn't pass it to him. I think after that he looked back at the huge gaping hole behind him all the way down the pitch and decided that he'd better stay a bit closer to his own goal.

With a decent left winger in front of him I can see him doing very well in terms of starting moves down the left wing.

Problem is he is a centre half who can fill in at LB.

Showed yesterday that he doesn't get forward and struggles with players going outside him.

Wouldn't dismiss him just yet, must be very difficult to come into basically what is an unbalanced and undercooked side. But we need a specialist left back urgently

Emphatic THIS.

Brighton / Hove actually
Good to see the youngsters being given a run out and tested at the start of the season. This will pay off, but no pain no gain. Oscars first job is taking the players out of their keepy ball comfort zone.

There was good reason why we were always last to be shown on the FLS last season, and it wasn't because we played attractive football. Safe and tidy yes, but mostly without purpose.

I was never expecting a miracle start to the season and to have thought anything different is just wishful thinking.

Let's not blame too many players for their second goal, is was a bit special. I doubt Derby will score a better one all season.

It was made clear when Chicksen signed that we were still looking for a first choice LB. Still need one unfortunately. Maxi was ok.

Totally agree with NE on this one, it is unfair to blame Maksimenko for his performance yesterday, when it was so obvious to all around me in ESU that he was all alone on the left hand side of the pitch, with no Orlandi, surely Lua Lua would have given us a better balance.
