Not at all, no wonder you look so pastey.

Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. A marriage made in heaven.

Have tried it, and as I said, why ruin a perfectly good peanut butter sarnie by putting marSHite on it

Peanut Butter, Banana and Honey sandwiches are the best. A real pain to make and messy to eat but so tasty....

Bread (or toast)...

a thin spreading of butter (just cos I can't really make up my mind on the butter bit of peanut butter being adequate)...

Peanut butter, then hoseradish, maple syrup, cod liver oil, lard, pork scratchings, half a pint of cockles in vinegar, then finally a little whipped cream, a maraschino cherry (or cocktail olive) on top, and garnish with a pork pie.

Perfect.

I've tried it in several combinations, but it only works in that order.

Nobody has mentioned the fact that if you butter the nread first the knife will have butter residue on it; thus when you put said knife into the peanut butter you leave bits in there. It's the same with Marmite, Jam and, I should imagine, crab paste. You could obviously have a seperate knife for each 'butter'or wash/lick the knife clean in between, but surely this complicates an otherwise simple sandwich making experience.

I butter the bread first.

Can I just say, this thread had a DIRECT influence on me buying a jar of Sun-Pat Crunchy Peanut Butter the other evening, from Alldays (I needed some bread and a pint of milk). I also impulse-bought a packet of chilli crackers, something I later regretted as they were slightly stale and rather disappointing.

This thread actually appeared not long after I had purchased some Peanut Butter for the first time in years.

Is this the peak season for Peanut Butter?

Dunno. I know that without this thread, I'd have walked past the penut butter without even thinking. I didn't actually go out for a jar of peanut butter at all, but something in my brain told me "Biscuit has been talking about peanut butter....there's a jar of peanut butter right in front of you...BUY IT !"

I must be easily led.

I've never had voices in my head telling me to buy peanut butter.

But I was once rugby-tackled in Sainsbury's by a viscous six-pack of Guinness, which held me in a Vulcan neck-pinch until I agreed to purchase and consume.

I had a similar experience with a chorizo sausage in Tesco once.

I'm with pasty. PB without jam is boring. I've tried a lot but not pineapple yet. I like the stripey jars of PBJ.
