Right, this has always troubled me.

Your making a Peanut butter sandwich. You have your bread out, your knife.. now.. Do you butter the bread before you put on the Peanutty goodness? Or do you ignore the butter because the spread is called 'Peanut Butter' and must therefor already have the butter in it?

Personally I ignore the butter and go straight to the spread.

While were or it I know a good joke about butter.. but I wont tell you.. I wouldnt want you spreading it.

Thanks,

Self confessed Peanut Nutter.

Butter, than spread. That's the only way surely?

no butter

butter, in my eyes, is used to lubricate the bread, if you already have a moist spread, the bread is already lubricated thus making the butter redundant

The best type of peanut butter is co-ops own. Which is interesting coz normally the supermarket brands are crap re beans etc.

you'd add more SALT? Oh no no no.

I knew this subject would divide the NSC community.

If I added salt to every peanut butter sandwich I made I'd probably be dead.

I very rarely put butter (or olive spread) on my bread.
When I pack up my lunch during the week I use mayonnaise to moisten the bread before I put smoked ham in or sometimes pickle.
It really reduces the fat content of the sandwich. A hint passed on from someone who is involved with dieticians.

I prefer hot cross buns without butter.
