These threads are quite funny in a sad sort of way.

So Jake's shown potential and never filled it?

He's 19 years old FFS:nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

How can you have a make or break season at 19!!!

Put like that....you're right but I fear he needs to come on quite dramatically next season to have any chance of not being shipped out to another club.

He'll be OK. Give the kid a chance, he needs a strike partner.

Well said young Douglas. :drink:

Our most dangerous player, even in our worst games - and people shook their heads?? The way I saw it, you are getting on him the same as Leon the lone ranger was rode upon. We just need to play to our own strengths, whatever it takes. Football is not a formula sport, same for every team. Liverpool wing high balls over to Crouch because he's 6ft and a lot more, these days you rarely see ManU score from a header OR a high cross from the wing.

The way I saw it for the Northampton game, we have a team just starting to come into its' own - and some of the members who previously struggled are becoming indispensable! (i.e. Kerry Mayo and Adam el-Abd) There are of course lessons still to be learnt, but there was not ONE bad player out there.
One Swallow doesn't make a summer, but I sense we are seeing a VERY FAST revival from the McGhee days, with minimal name-changing of the squad.

NMH, I am not party to the politics at the Albion and quite frankly they don't interest me, however it does seem that the majority of our squad were brought through the ranks by DW and he does appear to be the person capable of bringing the best out of them. There were a few questions raised when he became manager, the usual; cop out, cheap option, not tried and tested, yadda yadda yadda, looks like another shrewd move by DK...yet again.

The Albion are now firing on all cylinders, all it needed was an oil change and some new spark plugs, the car was always alright, it had just been running rough for a while.

err I think you'll find I started this thread before the season started and said I reckoned he would make it, so how am I getting on his back?

There.

...needs to come on dramatically to have any chance of not BEING SHIPPED OUT TO ANOTHER CLUB ??

I applaud your succinct way of saying he' not good enough, as it's unmistakeable.
....but now you say I made a mistake? misread it?

Well if it's between the lines, I don't know. I'm certainly not suggesting that carries the same weight, say, as "Knight is a pariah who can't be bothered to run, falls over and makes enemies in the dressing room", but it is where that starts - and until Jake started getting balls played to his feet where he could use his strengths and run at defenders (which they hate) and get shots in, he was getting played out of the games same as LK was before him.

I don't know why people couldn't see further than the results that our striker/s got for their efforts, as their downfall has ALWAYS been the SERVICE that has NOT been afforded them. At last there are two strikers who are given the positions to run into the box, and getting time on the ball to back defenders up, pass to each other and make time for another player or two to get into scoring positions. But people got on the lone striker, who then looked like scapegoats for McGhee's crap management and tactics. It actually served to keep Magoo here longer.

Some day I will get my THANKS for being one of the fans against Magoo, who helped get him ousted. Only a couple of weeks ago, this site was full of "I hope you anti-McGhee brigade are HAPPY.."etc.
Well I was then, and I am now.

South Coast Rooney played a blinder but one game does not a star make - it's looking promising though. Better get his and Cox's contracts tied up.

Didn't Jake sign a 3 year contract last season?

never had any doubt jake could score goals and something like 7 goals in 7 games shows he's a goalscorer.

he has never really had an extended run had a couple of starts here and there but lets see how jr and alex do

it's made me laugh on here when people have said he isn't up to it the next chris mcphee ect.he has just turned 20 ! cos he has been around so long people forget how young he is not 2 many people break into the team at 16 and he was a very young 16 year old as well u've only got 2 look at the likes of tom fraser and joel who have made ther debuts at 18 2 put it in perspective.

he has got a natural talent just look at the 4 goals he has scored this week all different!

lets just hope the hard work deano keeps on about on the training pitch starts 2 pay dividens over a longer period

im sure it will cos iv always had total faith in jake as you can see from my signiture

oh jakey jakey jakey jakey jakey robinson

I meant it as he needed to PROVE he is as good as he was hyped to be, as I didn't think that he was good enough last season even though he showed flashes the season before last at Burnley.

If he had failed to make the step up and not started to fulfil his potential this season, I believe he would have been shipped out. As it is it looks like he has made that step up, and I am delighted.

I see your comments overlooked the original post in which I said:

I reckon he'll make it in League One and fulfil some of the overhyped potential that he has. He is not gonna be the next Owen but he will be a good player for us I reckon.

Your thoughts?
