Its an interesting viewpoint.....re Arry i wudnt be so sure...QPR are starting to struggle..they were hardly convincing early season with mostly 1/0 wins.....they seemed to lack fight/spirit when i watched them on sky yesterday

And the ability to follow one of the most basic rules of football which kids even know - play to the whistle.

I think I'll have to retract it actually. The Complete Badgers counter argument trumps it, IMO.

Well he did only say its a tad harsh....would/could he have done such a job without Tans dosh (i have no sympathy with Tan)....I see Dyche was his number 2 when at Watford...now theres a man who seems to work within limited means

Why would you need to include the player equation? 2 different issues

If a manager loses a couple of key players to long term injury he gets replacements in January. If you ditch a manager because he is not doing the business, he comes in and ( Bit like the lovely Mr Tan said today ) gets a big spending package for players to improve the team. How many managers would come in to a struggling team and work with exactly the same squad, one that they can't spend anything on transfers til the summer ?

I think that would be the end of Harry Redknapp being parachuted in mid season don't you think ?

Maybe that's who we need then with our cost cutting

Hypothetical situation: OG gets us promoted this season. TB gives him a FFP compliant transfer kitty, which is spent in the close season and August transfer window, with no promise of any more to be spent in January. We are then third from bottom of the Prem at this stage next season. My question is does TB allow OG time to pull clear, or P45 him, and get a survival specialist in?

OG delivers more than is required.
The club spend to the budget and no more.
Third from bottom means we have some points.
OG doesn't become sh*te over night.

OG stays even though there will be some on here demanding a sacking and Warnock's appointment.

I don't think it's as simple as league table position, although some chairman clearly do.

There are different ways of 'cracking' the Premier League if you're a promoted side:

1. Spend very big and hope - normally the preserve of the relegated 'big clubs back on the way up, i.e. Newcastle, Sunderland or West Ham.
2. Scout far and wide, bring in value 'flair' - i.e. Wigan, Swansea.
3. Be pragmatic - i.e. Stoke, Hull. Bring in tried and tested, battle-hardened Prem players. Not pretty, not especially cheap, won't win you any fans from the Far East but you might stay up.

The problems with these three are:

1. The money runs out.
2. Your best players get bought.
3. Your football is boring and turns people off.
