Yes.

But not many are playing a centre midfielder left back, a left back left wing, a centre back/right back in centre midfield and upfront and a player who should have been released at centre forward...

So let me get this right. You are saying we should never try playing people out of position?

So Thierry Henry never did score the 174 goals in 254 games for Arsenal playing out of position then???

Erm...

I believe Henry was converted to a centre forward by Arsene Wenger. He was hardly a right back playing upfront was he?

The fact you don't seem able to even consider anything the club is doing at any level might not be 100 per cent perfect is really quite boring.

Clearly, players having to play out of position is not an ideal situation. If it was, those players would be playing in THAT position...

No but still not his natural position

Believe me i know that this club is far from perfect and some of my posts reflect it as well

Agree it isn't the best situation but it's the managers call to pick and play the team.

Henry was far from the finished article when Wenger got hold of him.

You are clutching at straws in a rather embarrasing way if you are claiming Henry was not quickly converted to a centre forward.

Most, if not 99 per cent, of his Arsenal and France games would have been as centre forward. Whether he played there to start with or not it certainly became his position of choice.

Not the same in any way whatsoever as someone who has said on numerous occasions he wants to play centre back being asked to play centre midfield or upfront.

I also think you know that but it just does not fit with your view of the club...

And at no point did I say it wasn't the manager's job to pick the team. Not sure what point you are making there. It is also the manager's job to put together a squad which can compete and has cover in all areas - not just centre back.

Not at all i am just pointing out it wasn't his natural position

Yes it became his best position

I know Virgo said he didn't want to play up front but was anything ever mentioned about midfield?

I also think you know that but it just does not fit with your view of the club...

What "view" of the club?

Again i agree we are short in a few positions. But we don't exactly have a large player budget. January should be interesting as i can see quite a few going

To be honest, I am far to bored to have an argument with you. I can pretty much predict your responses and I don't want to put the other posters through four pages of your pro club waffle.

Loan players are often not available until the Prem clubs have decided who they are going to need - so by definition, we have to wait for the window to be closing before we know who is going to be available.

And until the clubs like ours sort their squads out and start getting injuries, suspensions etc.

It is not all pro club though. If the club fucks up i am as pissed off as any other supporter.

And no you really can't predict my responses. If you are bored a good debate should liven things up?

Fair point about the Premiership clubs taking a fair time to decide who they need.

But...

And until the clubs like ours sort their squads out and start getting injuries, suspensions etc.

It was pretty obvious our squad was hugely lacking in certain areas even before injuries and suspensions.

True. But maybe Mickey thought OGH would be up to the task and that other fringe players would have more of an impact. Also, although it wasnt really the point of the discussion I was talking more generically.

Agreed.

I would probably add a specialist winger to those two additional midfield players and a back up goalie if, as it seems, the boss isn't backing Sullivan enough to be on the bench.

Loan goalie or buy one? Currie appeared to be the winger he was after but as has been said there is still time before the transfer window shuts and 4 from a possible 6 isn't the worst start to the season

Not a bad start by any means.

Although we have played two of the only teams to not win at least one of their opening games and neither are going to be setting the league alight.

Not bad - but not as amazing as some would have us believe.

Not amazing but a steady start. A result at Roots Hall will mean top of the table come 3pm Saturday so the pressure is put back on the other teams.

Scunthorpe in 4 weeks and Leeds in 8 weeks. I hope we have more depth to the squad by then.
