Distant mutterings... "It's still raining here in Leeds... " but no indication of if or when play might resume.

Surely we want a 36 hour monsoon in both places ? ???

Technically, yes. But long spells of rain aren't forecast for the next two days in Nottingham...Stop start showers could cause Notts to declare short on runs in an attempt to win the game which might open the door for Hants

more distant mutterings would suggest the rain has stopped, the sun is breaking out and a resumption is not that far away... but nothing official :nono:

Sky says inspection not until 1.45, so unlikely to re-start much before 2

Strange position this. Normally would say we'd like to end early for bad light and lose more time tomorrow for rain. However I suspect Yorks will want to win the game and therefore loss of time could force a very sporting declaration (say 4 an over) which would be about the most dangerous thing that could happen for Sussex if Brooks and Sidebottom hit their straps....
In the other game I guess we just hope that Hants are set something north of 300. If they get them then fair do's and we have to save ourselves.

Hants won't get close to 300 on a 4th innings pitch at Trent Bridge imo. Would be nice to see Notts get an even bigger lead than that to make it completely comfortable though...

Hants will be starting to get worried now, the Notts score is effectively 126/2 with Taylor and Patel well-set, presently cruising at 5 an over and the ball now 32 overs old and softening up.

At TB it's not about the total it's more the required run rate imho. Anything more than about 3.5 an over would require something special.

...but Hants do bat down to #10 at least, so they will always be in with a chance....

Play resumes at Headingley at 2.10 with 59 overs remaining

Unlikely they'll get more than 45 in, 50 at a stretch. Need to keep the run rate down or they could be in a position to declare 30 minutes into the morning session if not overnight, depending on how Gale thinks the wicket is playing

Another rain break would be handy. Getting Gale would be equally handy...
