Disappointing to see Lukaku has gone to West Brom on a season long loan. If he was available for loan I would have thought Gus might have taken him, particularly given his relationship with Chelsea. Makes me wonder if we are really serious about signing a good strong centre forward. This seems like a too good an opportunity missed. Especially after the friendly last week.

Already a thread on this but, Clarke has Chelsea ties too and RDM is obviously ex WBA. If you are Lukaku or RDM, would you rather Premiership or Championship football ?

Bit of an over reaction me thinks. For all we know we could have been in for him and he chose to go to another good football team and stay in the Prem. if I were Lukaku thats where I'd go, just a fact of life they're a bigger club and a decent one at that.

Sorry, hadn't realised there already was a thread on this story. If the Big Board was only used for football related matters, I might have seen it but most of the threads on my page seemed totally unrelated to football or BHA for that matter. Sure, I accept we may have been in for him and indeed understand that he himself might have chosen to go to a Prem side rather than a Championship side, but it can work both ways for a "fringe premiership player". You can go on loan to another struggling Prem side and not make much impact, or you step down a level and score 25+ goals for a Championship side and make headlines and heighten your stock value. Also good for your profile and confidence to score 25+ goals.

18million player. He was never going to drop a division when he's got a chance to prove himself against premiership opposition. Also, Chelsea would want that too. To blame the club is frankly bizarre and in gagaland. We are currently mid-table championship and are doing well attracting older experienced players.
