I really fancied Lady Alize today. I talked to her trainer a couple of months ago - he was the champion trainer in Sweden before moving over here at the start of the year, a very honest and down-to-earth bloke - and he reckoned that this one was sure to win a race in the near future.

Don't know if you saw it, but Lady Alize got there to win on the nod in the final stride, and then Ryan "Brighton born" bloody Moore came from nowhere and managed to get the favourite in front in the last half-stride, having looked so out of it a furlong from home that he was matched at 1000 on Betfair.

For the 1785th time, I give up.

I had £50 win on party at 7/4 in the morning. That race just showed what a great young jockey we have from Woodingdean. ;)

Thought you might be interested in this piece from today's Daily Mirror:

PRINCELY SUM FOR PUNTERS WHO HOOVER UP IN 999-1 EMERGENCY
IN ASSOCIATION WITH betfair
THREE Betfair punters were partying like it was 999-1 last night.

All three had managed to back Newbury winner Party, the 11-8 favourite, at a staggering 999-1 in the running.

You'd imagine Party, scrubbed along pretty much the entire race, must have been ridden by John McCririck (blinkered) to drift in the betting that far, but those are the kind of odds you often get from Betfair clients when they see a horse sending out distress signals.

The beauty for yesterday's three punters was that they had asked for considerably shorter odds than the 999-1 they got. One requested evens and the other two 10-1 but, because of the Betfair best-price rule (which matches bets at the best price available at the time of the request), they got an awful lot more than they bargained for.

Why would you lay 999-1 when you could attract money at 10-1, I hear you cry.

Because if you think a horse has no chance, you want to make sure you hoover up ALL the money from people wanting to back it.

By offering 1,000 (999-1), the ceiling price on Betfair, no-one can steal in with a better offer so you are always front of the queue to accommodate backers.

Thats f***ing excellent. It really did look like it was beat but Ryan got it home with some great riding.

I saw Tom Hark, Preston Park about half an hour ago along London Road, he had the look of a man who meant business.

Well done THPP.

We're all a bit shit this month though aren't we?

Cheers KSA

Bloomin' hard work this month compared to last month, has to be said. You'd think the sheer spread of horses we've selected among us would throw up a lot more winners than we're getting. Not even getting that many places - had a 3/10 favourite unplaced yesterday! Very weird.
