Carl, with the 35 year addiction, reminded me very strongly of former President George W Bush. Carl, however, appeared to have more of a grasp on reality.

I bet it's bloody hard to get a dentist's appointment in Fresno...

Whilst there is no doubting Louis ability to make an interesting and thought provoking documentary I do miss the more light hearted stuff that he used to do. The Jimmy Saville/Paul Daniels type stuff. Was a great watch and not sad or distressing.

Caught up with this last night, thoroughly depressing but I do agree that LT makes interesting programmes.

One thing that struck me was that most of the addicts seemed to be white, is that because they're the ones who agreed to be interviewed, because Fresno is mainly white or because crystal meth is a 'white' drug?

It certainly nailed the myth that British dentistry is worse than the US's though...

Its surprising that people deal in meth though seeing as how anyone can make it at home using Sudafed cough syrup and lithium salt from batteries.

Apparently a hit lasts 15 days and causes unbridled sexual desire and a need to be very active although its impossible to sleep and obviously massively addictive...

The problem is growing in England and it wont be long until we have a huge amount of chavs shagging like mad and blagging night nurse!

Exactly. Thats one of the biggest tragedies with Meth. The women addicts will have unprotected sex whilst off their tits that then end up in care because they are too wrecked to look after them.

The guy that was injecting was pretty straight about it when he said his four kids were in care because him and his wife did'nt want them around the drugs...really f***ed logic there, speaks volumes about how powerful the addiction is. You have a choice between your kids and Meth and Meth wins.

Reminds me of Philip K Dicks "A Scanner Darkly" which describes the addicts weird logic better than any other material written about it IMO.
