Guess who has their name at the bottom of this match report in The Observer today:

"Goalkeeper Michel Kuipers was brilliant, making some good saves as they applied pressure. Darren Currie scored a goal-of-the-season contender, straight in from a corner. Cadamarteri threatened for them, starting quietly but getting better as the game went on, like United themselves"

It might be a goal of the season contender, but it certainly wasn't direct from a corner. Was the reporter at the game?

Lost in translation indeed! I've only just got a copy of the paper meself and was certainly surprised at the version of yesterday's "punditry" that appeared.

I suspect there was a deal of "Rearrange these commonly used words and sayings into something halfway resembling the report of a football match". Since I certainly did mention the following:

Currie - the maestro of the corner kick
Currie - superb goal from Knight's cross
United - came out stronger
Half time - after it
Game - scrappy
United equaliser - was robbed by Referee who turned up without rule book.
Free play - what, when ref had been issued brand new whistle?
Kuipers - give that man a medal.
Gin - make mine a large one
Er - that's it.

What an excellent movie.

Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson were superb, and I recognised most of the locations funnily enough.

My mate lives and works in Japan and stayed at the Hotel they filmed. Small world eh? I thought it was very good. Watched 'Girl With A Pearl Earring' last night. Thought Scarlett would have looked better with a pearl necklace but there you go.

It was a visually stunning film. But what was the plot again ?

Two people feeling very alone in a foreign land, neither knows why they are really there fall in a kind of fake love that they know in 'real life' would never work.

Absolute cack! Really looking forward to watching it and spent the entire film waiting for something to happen...
Dissapointed.

I thought it was a really good film, Bill Murray ahd Johansson were quality. Granted there was little in the way of plot but it was a decent enough story, if you like that kind of thing.
