The helicopter crash - which [IIRC] wasn’t seen but just reported - involving Colonel Henry Blake was one of the first times I became aware of the emotional impact a TV series could have.

I remember that being broadcast and the furore in the US at the time, "It's meant to be a comedy"

Integral part of one of the greatest comedies of it's time. RIP HL

It was a great programme, and she was an integral part of it.

I don't remember what night it was shown but the theme tune had the same dread for me as the That's Life and Last of The Summer Wine ones, which meant the weekend was over and school the next day.
