Gandalf and Tree beard mention he's locked himself in the tower and Gandalf leaves the Ents to guard him.
Great, so the evil Saruman, ancient and powerful wizard, right-hand man of the Dark Lord Sauron and architect of the vast Orc Army, basically locks himself in the toilet to hide from a cluster of tree's outside.

No wonder they cut his scenes.

the whole Sauron as a spirit thing is kinda reminiscent of Volermort from Harry Potter - it's interesting where JK Rowling got here ideas from :D

Harry Potters world does seem to have amazing simularity to Lord of the Rings sometimes.

Wormtongue - Wormtail being the one that springs immediately to mind but I'm sure there were loads more.

No, that's the film version. In the book he comes out fighting using all his powers of persuasion to try and turn the fellowship against one another and he nearly suceeds but then Gandalf pulls down his "i'm not a grey wizard anymore, i'm white" shit and that scares the living shit out of Saruman who then proceeds to go and hide in a toilet.
