We had nobody sent off, Palace lost at home, Pompey lost and Southampton could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to the 'mighty' Orient, first point for both.

Not cause for celebration but no need for some of the gratuitously whiney comments of some people.

Yes, poor old Blackpool came down to earth with a bit of a bump. Actually, I think Portsmouth stand a very good chance of going down and Palace need to buck up their ideas too.

Because it's a money competition, not a sporting competition.

Obviously in the lower leagues money has an influence, but nothing like as much as in the Premier League. In my opinion.

at the rick of going off topic, what decline? 1990 was a high water mark 24 years after the previous, in between there were non-qualifications for tournements and early exits.
