I am I right in thinking that the current record of unbeaten matches in the top flight of english football was held by Notts Forest and it was The Albion that ended that record?

If I remember it was Gary Williams who scored the only goal in a 1-0 win at the City Ground.

Close. We ended their unbeaten HOME run. I think Leicester City stopped their unbeaten run about three weeks before. Gerry Ryan scored for us on a Withdean-esque bog at the City Ground.

Williams scored the screamer at The Goldstone ensuring that we did the double over them. And this was the defending league champions in the season they became European champions. Cool.

Thought it was Gerry Ryan but could be wrong.

I thought it old one welly himself ( Mr Ryan).... and john Robertson missed a penalty....... and it was on MOTD ( a rarity in those days).......... we went up with a few lancing boys on the Seagull Special.............. stood under the floodlights in the corner ( a la NW corner at Goldstone), great day..... Forest fans were gobsmacked.
