Talking with West Hoathly Seagull at Falmer this afternoon, he was moaning about the fact that parking at Haywards Heath is becoming increasingly problematic - a lot of four hour parking has, apparently, been changed recently to two hour parking.

But I guess if you are travelling by train via HH, this is an idea worth thinking about.

And I warned you that I may be nicking your parking place at Glynde Station! Does the landlord of the Trevor Arms know what is about to hit him, I wonder? I went in the Swan yesterday, and it seemed to have reverted to being the clubhouse for the League of Gentlemen. Seriously, the coach idea could be very useful for weekday games when I need to get back to London afterwards, or even just Haywards Heath. At least one can park there in the evening.

So, match finishes, walk to car park, queue up for coach, get on coach, wait on coach for at least 5-10 mins for stragglers, coach eventually moves off, takes apx 30 mins (?) to HH dependent on traffic... get off coach, wait for train. Get on train, arrive in London.

Or. 2 min walk from stadium to Falmer station, train to HH, then on to London. Hmmm.

Haven't really thought that one through had you ?

Or park near Central Sussex College. All residential streets, and a 2/3 minute walk from the station.

This does look like a good idea for lots of living in London - especially for evening matches, when I can otherwise see us not getting back until the wee small hours.

TBH, though, it would feel a bit restrictive for Saturday games, when most people have more flexibility. So my personal view would be - good idea, would be happy to book/pay in advance, would help if the club Travel vouchers were valid for a discount* (even if just a quid off), but wouldn't want to have to buy a 'whole season' pass because I would mostly only use for evening games.

I didn't see any leaflets at the ST presetnation, though. Is there anything you'd like us to do to register interest?

And, if my attitude is in any way typical, would there be enough interest to run the service on Saturdays, or not?

(*with the Albion refunding the organisers, obvs)

From the leaflet I've got:

Prices are yet to be confirmed..

Coach will set off 30 mins after final whistle. Now you could ask, why don't I get the train ? Well I can grab a beer at Falmer then simply take a short walk to the coach station and walk straight on the coach having pre-booked.

The cost will be subsidised by the club (so no "vouchers") from what I understand

Looks like you may be able to do it on a match by match basis, or buy a "season ticket"

They want to guage numbers so look at stagedoortickets.co.uk/seagulltravel

Forget to mention - it could of course pick up at HH and take you TO the stadium before the game.

There is course the possibility of it taking people further up the line - it's really down to demand.

I originally got into conversation regarding the possibility of a coach going up to East Croydon. Then was told that coaches will probably be running to HH anyway.

I guess there is always the possibility of asking for a HH express (say 15 minutes after full time), again it's probably down to demand.

Cheers. Have contacted Stage Door through their website.

.. not another supporters club, but I was speaking to someone organising coaches today and there is a strong possibilty coaches can run direct from the ground up to Haywards Heath station for a reasonable fee if there is enough demand.

That's easier than queuing for a train at Falmer to either Lewes or Brighton to get a connection isn't it my cockney friends ?

On your presentation, make sure you you pick up one of his coach travel leaflets.

Yes who are these Gulls you speak of? Those of us who live here in Brighton and Hove refer to our local team as 'The Seagulls' or sometimes the Dolphins , as the town used to have a Dolphinaruim and not Sea Life Centre.

Anyone had the misfortune of purchasing a seat next to Timmy Bed & Breakfast ? As the most convenient way out of the stadium could possibly be a coach, I'd encourage you to look into the alternative travel arrangements available.
