The funniest thing though is getting yanks to try pronouncing English placenames.

I once heard of an Australian that referred to Loughborough as LooGabarooGa, both hard G's. Quality

Facking carrot crunchers, afters? I play chicken on the facking M25, me. :lolol:

Talking of carrot crunching, you lot are the ones you concentrate heavily on cricket and have hunting seasons in the posh bits. We speak the same as your good self, innit... unless you're accusing yourselves of being carrot crunchers too! ;)

Now Wiltshire, that the land of inbreds. 6-fingered big-eared simpletons, the lot of 'em. Thank God I'm gone from there now. Far too close to Swindon for my liking!

Living in Ireland i hear afair bit of strange diallogue

They sat 'thanks a million' not just cheers

'Now then' instead of 'is that all'

'tree' instead of three

'im after having my dinner' instead of ive just had dinner

craic meaning good time as in 'any craic'

but i never heard 'to be sure, to be sure' yet

Anyone else heard "shant" for beer? As in just popping out for a few shants? Brighton slang or bastardised London?

Belvoir in Leicestershire is apparently pronounced Beaver. Only found this out when I was given instructions to a remote house in the country that involved driving past Beaver (Belvoir) Castle. Half an hour of driving around ended up with a phone call from me explaining I was lost as the only castle I could find was called Belvoir

What is the correct pronunciation of Burpham near Arundel (pronounced A Run Dell, by many out of area people and especially Americans). Is it Burfum?

No one has mentioned that most people born and bred in Brighton seem to pronounce it Brighon.

On the Norfolk names, anyone know the correct pronounciation of Hunstanton?

Where I live in Tenterden is known by older locals as Tenerden and the nearby village of Rolvenden becomes Rolverden.
