You wouldn't think that from the BBC coverage , according to them it's neck and neck between the Tories and Labour over who has lost most seats

I've not seen much news at all today, but I would guess the Labour angle is that for an opposition party up against a government in absolute disarray, it's a piss-poor show to not make any headway.

Appreciate this doesn't meet your tiresome agenda.

The latest is Tories -1189, Labour -65.

Reported as equal defeat for both parties.

I don't think that is quite true, though you want to believe it. Nowhere have the numbers been compared, as you suggest, though certainly mentioned. The point was surely that the Tories lost heavily and under normal circumstances, the party of opposition would have hoovered up the loss, but that has hardly been the case, hence the idea that there has been a defeat for both parties.

And a huge surge for the Anti brexit parties (though you don't want to believe it)

What a stupid post - I have made no mention of anti Brexit parties and can clearly see that they have made gains, so why you should insinuate that I don't believe it, is, I assume, down to alcohol . .

Greens have done very well in Lewes District too, also seems to be an embarrassing time for Labour on the town council where only the tories have done worse, and not by much. Interesting that a town that loves the Greens, independents and Lib Dems can be so unsupportive of Labour despite them even having premises in the town.

No policies? They win a seat: what then? And if they don't win a seat: what was the point?

Win a seat resign trigger a by-election the point being spoiled votes are not taken into any account but voting for a party that is only standing on the one issue has to be considered

Doesn't look like anyone else did

This confuses me. It looks very much like he is taking a selfie, and the twitter feed is in his name, yet it's written in the third person as if someone else is writing his tweets.

Acker79 does not like people talking in the third person. Unless they are the Rock. And Tim Hodges is no The Rock.

The standard of handwriting on those spoiled ballot papers is atrocious!
No real change for Brighton and Hove then - still a bloody shambles.

In fairness to our roving [former] reporter, he got over 1500 votes and did better than the other two Tories. But in general, democracy breathes a sigh of relief.

He got more votes than the others because he was first in alphabetical order on the paper. Unfortunately, that's the way it works.

Absolutely. Get rid of those who want other folk to have the nice home that you have.

No problem with extra homes and there is space around here but you need to improve the infrastructure to cope, I gather the extra 3500 new homes don’t include plans for any new doctor surgeries for example. The only venue in Burgess Hill that could stage acts and was used by a number of community groups was given away for nothing to developers as a sweetener to develop the town which is now half empty and what have they done, nothing.

He has just changed his name to Aaaron Aaaaardvark for the next time

I joked with my local Green candidate about that. He said his wife wouldn't be happy about him changing his name to Aardvark. He was elected nonetheless- the first Green in the area. Folk seem pleased.
