I remember my first london flat. A young family below us, with a 17 year old UK garage DJ. To be fair to them, they played music during the day. - but I was working night shifts!
Do you know if there is soundproof plaster board and insulation? That can help.

You know I wasnt responding to the comedic cartoon you posted right? I was responding to your comments implying people that own their own properties or live in private rentals don’t suffer the mental health or physical impacts of anti-social behaviour or noise intrusion to the extent those on benefits/low income do. Which, is wrong and clearly spouted from the top of your head - if you’ve never suffered from noisy neighbours to the extent it was seriously impacting on your life, then you don’t ‘get it’
PS NOT that this thread is about me but by the way, I’ve been on enough chat forums to understand how they work, enough to know when people are being trolled or verbally attacked, baited or mocked and enough to know when people are spouting BS or being patronising twankers - I can do it with the best of them - I think I’ll survive thanks

Check your lease for any rules regarding noise - for example in my block with the exception of the kitchen and bathroom, all floors must be carpeted. A few years back one of the leaseholders was able to get the owner of the flat above to remove their laminate flooring.

I was chatting to a colleague in the week who said she'd had trouble with noisy neighbours and it had affected her sleep.
She said she bought a white noise emitter, and said once she got used to it, she sleeps through her neighbours noise and sleeps better generally. Might be worth trying?
If you've got an alexa, you can ask her to play white noise and you can set it to play on a loop throughout the night.

Applies to semi detached as well. Wood floors, thin walls with longes backing on to each other. We lived in a semi where they reconfigured next door to have stairs running up the other side of the lounge.
my mum lived in a purpose build flat for over 55s and they were configured so that lounges backed on to bathrooms, so little noise from one to the other.
You could look at having an insulated stud wall put over the party wall to see if that helps. You lose a couple of inches of room, but could do the trick.

I was going to add earlier (before getting side-tracked) that looking at the configuration of your flat to see if it’s possible to change the layout so you sleep in a quieter area of the flat - we did this in one of our old (previous) properties and created a knock through living room as a bed-sitting area with wooden screen doors installed which then served as a large living room/dining room but spare bedroom if noise was too bad.

There's shall we say, a fairly large girl living in the flat below, she has respiratory issues and coughs continously throughout the day/night. It doesn't help that her bed is directly below mine, 5am wake up call this morning. The most annoying thing is though, after she's stopped coughing, she instantly falls asleep and then the snoring vibrates up through the floor, through my bed and into my bones! 
Good point about the lease conditions. You'll find most of the older ones insist on carpet everywhere except bathroom, and think cheap laminate on the cheapest thinnest possible underlay is very popular in rentals.
Slightly OT but I got asked to sand and finish the floorboards of the ground floor of a maisonette in park crescent many years back. I pointed out that this was both unwise and unfair on the basement resident. They didn't care so I walked out. Twats. They were going to rent it too.

The irony is, which I suspect their future tenants found out, carpets and underlay on the floors in the top flat, insulate both properties against noise from each other!
