[Football] Liverpool v Palace on Sky

Apparently, from another broadcasting forum the reasons are as follows -
1. Due to their current broadcasting contracts for this season, Sky only had two game picks left and TNT had one game pick left, so only three games can be shown this Sunday contractually.
2. If Sky hadn't picked the Liverpool game they risked TNT picking it. If that happened at meant that while Sky could show coverage of the on-pitch trophy presentation but wouldn't be the "host broadcaster" so wouldn't have live access to pictures from other parts of the stadium such as the tunnel area or dressing room.

OK then, but why can't Sky now change their mind and pick an available game with something hanging on it?

Good question, don't know the answer to that one, perhaps if they change their mind and drop the Liverpool game they risk TNT also changing their mind and picking that game up? Or maybe it's because logistically the staff, transport, equipment etc. is all now organised and can't be redeployed at this late stage?

OK, well yes, i'm not suggesting they change it with 3 days to go. But Liverpool won the league weeks ago.

Sky and TNT are charging ever more money for an every worse product. They are making going to football matches a massive pain in the arse. And yes, people are voting with their feet and watching streams or procuring firesticks

Interesting. So they have to show 90 minutes of football just to show the presentation.
Also, bad on TNT for thinking of taking that game.
But surely they could have agreed to neither cover the game and both cover the presentation.

Weird isn’t it? If true, Sky think we are that bothered about the behind the scenes footage. By we I mean all other football fans.

I’d have thought the the PL would have used their noggins and seen this as a dead rubber and given it to TNT and Sky and then let the 3 picks be used on 3 other games.

As to showing ALL the games, I wouldn’t want to open that box of tricks. In my opinion we need to protect lower league clubs from anymore saturation. Sky shifting to show 215 games next season is enough. More than enough in my humble opinion.

Given it’s a bank holiday weekend, how will their parade look any different to the thousands of other caravans on the motorway?
