Yep, I was on those buses... we lost 4 nil I seem to remember too..... let's not forget that the Scousers made the Stanley Knife a footy tool of choice ... they also rampaged across europe, thieving anything they could get their hands on... no angels those cheeky northern scallies.

That was hardly unusual behaviour for English clubs in those days, and par for the course for England fans abroad. Criminals attached themselves to these forays into Europe for the opportunities it presented. Modern ticketing and surveillance arrangements have driven out most of the criminal element.

The last couple of times I’ve been to Anfield have been great, very friendly set of fans. It’s a good day out.

Agreed, I openly wore colours around Anfield and in the pub and had nothing but friendly encounters with Liverpool fans not just from the city but also Ireland and Isle of Man.
