You've got 10 minutes to answer this test which should take 10 seconds to work out.
A pair of shoes and a cleaning cloth cost £51. The shoes cost £50 more than the cloth. How much was the cloth?

Ok I'm being really thick here or missing the joke completely..... Can someone explain how it's 50p?!?!

Shoes + cloth = £51

Shoes = £50.50 + cloth = £0.50 = £51 (difference of £50)

If for e.g. the cloth was £1 and the shoes were £50 the difference would only be £49. If the cloth was £1 and the shoes were £51 the difference is £50, but the total is £52, not £51.

It's one of those things where the wording is meant to confuse you. It got me at first.
