[h=3]Lita poised to start on the bench[/h]6:00am Saturday 19th October 2013 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Leroy Lita lacks match fitness so is likely to play a bit-part
Leroy Lita has been cleared to make his Albion debut at Yeovil today – but he may have to wait for his chance.
The Seagulls received international clearance in time to play Lita following the striker’s loan move from Swansea.
He is likely to start on the bench, with Ashley Barnes continuing at centre-forward in the absence of injured top scorer Leo Ulloa.
Head coach Oscar Garcia said of Lita: “We hope he will be a good addition to the squad but he is lacking match fitness and at this moment we don’t know how many minutes he can play."
Albion will not be signing Cardiff’s 6ft 4ins French centre-forward Rudy Gestede to further bolster their depleted attacking options.
The Benin international was among the Seagulls’ loan targets to deputise for Ulloa.
The Argus understands Bolton are a likely destination for Gestede.
The Seagulls will not be signing Yossi Benayoun either, since the 33-year-old Israeli is out of their salary range.
The former Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder is expected to return to English football in the Championship with QPR or Watford.
