Am I the only one utterly pissed off that proper news stories get moved aside because Prince Charles and his horse got scared?

The BBC is now OBSESSED and is asking how such an eventuality arose, as the top story. FFS, how much of an issue is it really? A car window got broken, big f***ing deal. We already spend far too much protecting these unelected toffs for my liking.

its a fair story. the future head of state of umpteen countries is driven through a riot and attacked.
future head of state, as you say. Can you imagine the future head of state in another western country (an opposition leader) being afforded this sort of coverage because their window got smashed.

When Berlosconi, Italian head of state, was attacked and hospitalised he probably received less coverage than this from the lickspittles propping up the establishment.

Oh, I doubt that. Seeing that Berlusconi owns most of the Italian media I'm sure it was the headline story for days.

But I agree with you about the fuss over Chazza and his mount.

Berlosconi was Prime Minister of Italy, not the head of state.

Giorgio Napolitano is the Head of State.

plenty of other western countries have monarchies crown princes and heirs to the throne that are subjected to similarly intense media scrutiny. just not in this country. like ours arent so much there.

so yes. very much so. the equivalent to charles in scandinavian countries, the netherlands or spain for example are not their opposition leaders.

The BBC do have a record of being out of step with public sentiment. Weren't the plans for the Queens Mothers death almost Iron Curtain in their sombreness. As it was - the public feeling was more like "Sad, but Good Innings - move on".
