pete has been in the papers a considerable amount of times in recent months, especially now he is dating model kate moss and i think i'm right in saying they have even set a date.

for those libertines fans however, my question is whether you think that his music has improved since his departure from the libertines after his brawl with former front-man and co song-writer carl barat.

if any of you are unaware of any of pete's new band's music known as 'babyshambles' i strongly suggest downloading some of the free tracks from their website at www.babyshambles.net in the mp3 section. 'albion' is one of my personal favourites and one of their more famous tracks which i think is available on the new sessions in the mp3 section.

i'm not sure which is better myself. the punk sound of the libertines made them into one of the biggest rock bands in recent years despite the break up of pete and carl and having only released two albums. babyshambles on the other hand has a gentler accoustic feel to it which also sounds fantastic.

the tragedy is however that i think any reformation of the two is a long way off having gone so far in such little time. god bless pete and keep him away from all that smack!

If Doherty wasn't a SMACKHEAD and knocking the nail into a model, he'd be a NOBODY.

Possibly the most overrated musicians for many a year.

What he said...

Go find a Bowie album in a sale somewhere - far better value!

The Libertines are brilliant band, wrote 2 great albums and would have been big if Pete hadn't be kicked out cos of the drugs. BabyShamble are good and have some good songs like Killamangiro, but there no where near as good as the libs, most of there good songs were already written when Pete was in The Libertines. babyshambles have looked pretty average live on T.V. and by the sounds of it they may be splitting up before there album even comes out. I'd like to see Pete go solo, I prefer his solo acoustic stuff that I've heard in various sessions.

i am officially old as both bands have completely passed me by. i get the feeling that he should be very good, but everytime i see him live he seems to be a non talented Shane MacGowan. Mind you Shane MacGowan is a genius

The Libertines two albums are superb - Babyshambles seem poor by comparison.

The first Libertines album was superb but Doherty is a smacked up waster.

Will be interesting to hear Carl Barat's stuff when it comes out.
