What I meant was I'd rather save time and the X thousands of pounds a week wages for a player we don't need and spend it on a decent left back, a position we actually need to bolster.

Greer needs replacing, dunk may not be ready this year, get him in.

From what I saw of Dunk in the last few games of last season, he's perfectly ready to be a first choice option in the back four!

Dunk is definitely ready, and will easily play more games than anyone else, at centre back (injuries and cards permitting).

I'm just not convinced he's ready to be the senior partner.

I realise 3 is the same as 1 but I felt the need to emphasise that we don't need him.

We do need another centre back as Greer is not good enough. Hughes and Dunk first choice and we need a reserve

But what if that came about because of the signing of Upson?

Most of the season GG has either looked like he was one game away from world beater or meltdown.
Whereas Upson is now playing in the Premier League and will do just fine.
