Liam Dickinson and His Diving

It's unbelievable.

It's not as though he's in a league of Ronaldo for diving and on Saturday he was getting the square root of nothing from the ref when he was being man handled all over the pitch.

IMHO he doesn't deserve the criticism on this subject and all in all is a major benefit to the team. His body positioning is excellent, his feet and brain are quick and he can shoot.

Me thinks he will prove to be a very useful acquisition and if he get's injured or suspended he will be a difficult person to replace.

Forster too is master of the dive, and you know when he is going to do it. He gets the ball in the area, he then quickly shuffles the ball from his left foot to his right, with his right, he knocks the ball past the defender, and then leaves a trailing leg out to go down.

Quite. Tho most refs must have his cards marked by now. Forster gets very few penalties compared to the number of dives he does IMHO, and Dickinson seems to have had his card similarly marked earlydoors. Which is to be expected. Surely referees compare notes? Would be very surprised if they didn't have some kind of look-up website that told them which players they could expect to dive in any given game. Or maybe Dickinson's not very good at it. He's certainly not fooling many of NSC.

I too was in line with this on Saturday and it was so obvious it was embarassing. He is a tall Leon Knight who just got up the refs nose from the start, constantly complaining and just turning the ref against us.

We all know with refs, at whatever level, you need to keep them on side.

He has massive potential and showed us he can really play and is very committed, that said people are just starting to get fed up with is "Leonism"

Theres a difference between diving and going down too easily, and if it wins us free kicks and penalties as it has done in the past few matches and helps us win games then I don't particularly give a shit. Those saying forster dives all the time, he dived once about 6 months ago and now people accuse him of diving all the time without evidence.

I agree entirely with mendoza, especially frustrating because a couple of times towards the end of the match he stayed of his feet with the ball and did some good things with it, stay on your feet and if yo really get fouled, go down, dont just go down and then potentially waste a great chance

When we first went up into the Championship we conceded quite a few penalties because opposition strikers knew that minimal contact and falling over would get them the benefit of the doubt from the officials. Diving at the merest touch is unprofessional but because they get away with it in the Premier League it is seen as acceptable in the lower leagues as well. Rooney's dive in the England friendly led to a bit of banter between him and fellow scouser Gerrard much to the effect that he was better at taking a tumble than Stevie G. As for Dicko and Fozzy the more times they fall over in the box it will only give them a reputation amongst the match officials and genuine penalties wont be given.

Was right by it down by the track in front of the south stand when this happened (bloody buses being late meant i arrived a few mins late ) and it was so obvious it was embarrassing.

My point, too.
He can hardly 'throw his weight around' exactly - he doesn't HAVE any weight.
