I think it's fairly obvious that D'Urso had been bribed to let Leeds win on Satdi but bottled it in the second half once he realised people would work it out if he carried on.

I and everyone else who has watched football in this country in the last decade are sick and tired of this incompetent twat ruining football matches. Every referee has bad games, but with D'Urso it's every game. Although i realise it's impossible to dare to imply any criticism of referees to the FA, i believe it would be worth sending them a dossier imploring them to finally put this gimp out of his misery. So i've started to compile one, and if anyone wants to add to it that would be great. Here's what i've got so far.

Sam Allardyce calls D’Urso “a disgrace”.

Online petition started last year to stop D’Urso refereeing any more games.

http://www.petitiononline.com/6662005/petition.html

Spurs describe him as “the worst referee in Christendom.”

Steve Coppell – “Andy D’Urso’s record speaks for itself.” Leicester agree.

A classic D’Urso performance at Swansea.

He sends off the wrong player. At least it was a Palace one.

http://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=81&report=341

Shock horror, D’Urso had no control at all over a London derby (scroll down a bit)

Who do Everton fans think is a “time-wasting prick”?

http://www.bluekipper.com/chippapers/04_05/premiership/birmingham(h).htm

Villa call him “incompetent” and accuse him of being too eager to book people. Never!

http://www.villatalk.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=8

Pompey and Blackburn have their say on the D’Urso card collection.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4158/is_20050117/ai_n9694717

“D'Urso showed just why he has been banished from the top-flight with a series of contradictory decisions…”

D’Urso awards a penalty after initially signalling a corner.

He sets up a Liverpool goal and – unusually – awards a contentious penalty.

http://archives.tcm.ie/irishexaminer/2001/12/27/story19951.asp

“Referee Andy D'Urso felt the keeper had shoved Furlong, but replays show nothing happened. Strange.” (55th minute.)

Barnet manager Paul Fairclough adds his name to the D’Urso fan club.

Cardiff manager Dave Jones - “The players didn’t know what he was blowing up for…”

http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0600...lasts-whistle-happy-ref-d-urso-name_page.html

“Words simply cannot express the rottonness of this plonker” – Newcastle fans this time.

http://www.nufc.com/html/2001-08-19chelsea-a.html

Steve Bruce loves D’Urso. Only joking.

http://www.thebeautifulgame.co.uk/newsitem.php?id=160501&teamid=fulham

Danny Wilson - “Mr D’Urso will be quite embarrassed when he sees that on the video…”

http://www.miltonkeynestoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=416&ArticleID=1283707

D’Urso gets an average well below 4 out of 10 from Ipswich fans.

http://www.ratetheref.co.uk/Fixture/FixtureDetails.aspx?FixtureID=7278

D’Urso becomes the first man to give Cardiff and Millwall fans something to agree about.

http://www.cardiffcity-mad.co.uk/news/loadrprt.asp?cid=MTCH&id=242678

Patrick Vieira makes 5 fouls in front of D’Urso. And receives 5 yellow cards.

http://www.arseweb.org/www/newsreel//t1i438.html

D’Urso goes back on his word and fails to report a goalkeeper who swore at Albion fans.

http://archive.theargus.co.uk/1999/2/17/198752.html

“Not good enough for the Prem, so we have to suffer it instead.” Ipswich have their say.

http://www.tractorboys.com/actionstation.php?ssn=0405&mon=02

“An expert at being both inconsistent and wrong” – Charlton this time.

His finest hour, of course:

Did you look all this up yourself?

Fair play, that's some list.

Totally behind you on this campaign. It's a joke the man is still allowed to referee professional games

Tis true, I remember his first game refereeing us, and he was as bad then as he has been every time since. Only Prosser is worse.

Yeah, i just typed Andy D'Urso into google. I only went to the 20th page and i didn't include a lot of less balanced/serious reports. I'm a journo so it's what i do all day anyway, but i thought i might as well do something useful for a change. This is for the good of football.

Can you set up some sort of online petition for this?

I can put a link from the football frenzy site and I'm sure loads of fans will sign up.

The second link on my list is an existing petition which can still be signed, although if you or anyone else wants to set a new one up i'm sure we'd all gladly sign it :)

Names aren't really enough though. It's very important, at least, that every name specifies the club and preferably a match in which they remember D'Urso performing incompetently. I'm sure the FA will just say it's all a matter of opinion and all referees make mistakes in any case, but it would be nice to know we made the case as strongly as possible.

Don't give your secrets away, Ben.

At least you can spell. There are journos on NSC who get nowhere, because they type Adny D'Ohso.

I wouldn't want to give any secrets away m'Lord, but i know certain journalists, some of whom aren't even Albion fans, who probably read NSC more often than i do. Although i certainly couldn't name names.

D'Urso is on the Select Group

http://www.premierleague.com/fapl.r...mierLeagueNews&breadcrumb=latestfa_breadcrumb

SELECT GROUP LIST ANNOUNCED
The Professional Game Match Officials Ltd.(PGMOL) - the body responsible for managing officials in the professional game - has announced the list of 19 Select Group officials for the 2004-05 season.
Eighteen referees retained their place on the Select Group List, with Mark Clattenburg from Newcastle upon Tyne being promoted onto the list for the first time.

Clattenburg said: “I am very proud to be promoted to the Select Group List and I look forward to working alongside the best referees in the country in the coming season and beyond.

“Standards of refereeing are improving throughout the game and the hard work that goes into training referees on the National List means I am ready to make the step up to the Select Group. I am looking forward to taking charge of my first Premier League game.”

Graham Barber, Paul Durkin and Jeff Winter all retired from refereeing at the end of the 2003-04 season.

The Professional Game Match Official Limited was formed in 2001 to provide match officials for all professional matches played in England.

The Board is made up of the Chief Executives of the Football Association, the Premier League and the Football League.

The General Manager Keith Hackett, National Group Manager Jim Ashworth and FA Referee Manager Joe Guest work to maintain and improve standards of match officials, ensure the laws of the game are applied correctly and consistently throughout the professional game and strive to improve our match officials’ standing on the international stage.

The professional game match officials are divided into two groups with the General Manager taking overall responsibility.

The Select Group, currently comprising of the 19 most experienced and capable referees and 38 similarly rated assistants, officiate at the leading matches in the professional game (Premier League matches, some Football League matches and certain FA Cup and Carling Cup matches).

“The reduction in Select Group List officials to nineteen referees, after the retirement of Graham Barber, Paul Durkin and Jeff Winter, will allow more referees to gain experience at the top level of domestic football in order to maintain and build on the high standards achieved since the inception of PGMOL,” said Hackett.

The National List officiate in the remaining professional game fixtures.

Ok ok.

Im not in anyway sticking up for the man as i thought he was dire on sat, BUT.

If fans, managers, press etc carry on this way we will run out of refs in the next few years.
Its all ready starting to happen those who play sunday league/sat league football may have noticed the lack of refs in the leagues (infact some leagues dont let you in unless you bring a ref) and where do you think refs started? sunday league.
