Actually I dont understand this case at all, as they fled from the Taliban. well the Taliban is in the minority in Afghanistan now and the so called Government rules 85% of the country.

Therefore I would have thought that the chances of the government of Afgh handing them over to the Taliban to be tortured is zero.

Where is the Human Rights issue here?

who is talking about assylum seekers?

I was talking about the cleric bloke.

I was being devilish.

The British Human Rights Act 1998 gives freedom of speech and expression. Important to an extent, but dangerous ground.

Abu Hamza - criticised for his outspoken views. Incitement?

Danish newspaper - Applauded by people for their expression of freedom to print whatever they feel. Incitement?

Yes but, if you believed all Amnesty writes, every country in the world is in some way behaving badly towards its citizens.

Just as a matter of interest Andy, what is your take on the deportation of foreign nationals who have committed crimes over here, which Blair fell fould of a couple of weeks ago and Clarke fell on his sword over?

Because i thought that Hyjacking was one of the number one cast iron serious crimes in the world.

Iranian television showing pictures glorifying the 9/11 attrocities on a regular basis?

Incitement?

Thats pretty darn crazy! Hijacking a plane to gain assylum?!

Makes me slightly angry that pretty much anyone who wants to can go and live in the uk with or without a visa, valid assylum case, or people with criminal records for serious crimes.

The government over in Britain has always been a soft touch seems to be getting worse with each passing term in office.

UK immigration would not let my girlfriend have a visa for the country over a really stupid little issue with her student loan here in OZ.

5 months down the line she dumped me for someone else, main reason being time spent apart because idiots in UK would not let her come and see me so I had to emmigrate.

Throughout this time everday I heard about some (Insert nationality here) living over in Britain illegally, commiting crime, or various other acts. Made me furious.

The country is sinking into a cesspit of its own making, my advice to you all get out while you can!

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
I was working at Cambridge Airport the night of the Hijack and remember being told by our ATC that the crew were inexperienced had very little fuel and nearly piled the thing into Bishops Stortford.

I couldnt give a flying f*** about the colour of their skin, but when someone starts jepordising the safety of British Airports and Towns then that is when we have to ship em back to where they came from, cant imagine for one SECOND that they were bothering about anyone other than themselves when were repeatedly asked to land at safer places throughout europe, if they were that desperate then wouldnt anywhere have been acceptable?

Didnt appear to be.

Obviously knew what a soft touch we were, even Holland would have sent these TWATS back :nono:

I know for FACT some of them were even put up in the Airport Hilton with armed police surrounding the place.

What a f***ing SHAMBLES this country really is.

I suspect the failure to deport foreign nationals at the end of their jail terms is a long running failure. Provided they are not at risk of torture or persecution in their native country I have no objection to them being deported and in at least some cases would be delighted to see the back of them.

This particular case is, IMO, very unusual but I think the point is really about the seperation of the Executive and the Judicary. The courts should make decisions based on law regardless of the posturing of politicians. Provided that is what the courts did in this case, then I can live with it.

People will note that the Government diesn't agree with this decision nor the previous obscure decisions with this case.

Just out of interest, what would happen if the Government ignored the ruling and went ahead with the forcible deportation of the hijackers?

Can't argue with that!

Seriously, though, what 'punishment' be it judicial or financial could be imposed if the government were to take such an action and by whom? Our courts? Brussels?

What's to stop the government ignoring this week's ruling by putting all the hijackers on a plane to Kabul? What would the consequences be?
