I don't mind them showing Gemmill's goal against the Dutch - as long as they show highlight of all of Scotland's other group games from that particluar world cup. :lolol:

That'll be the one that England didn't qualify for?:lolol:

But everyone knows that if there's a tradesmens entrance into a major tournament, Scotland will use it. And then at the tournament you'll wonder why they ever bothered - except for "their marvellous fans".

Take 1998 - Scotland were the only team to finish 2nd in their group to go through without a play-off match. And this tournament you had yet another really tough group

Just wait - the Dutch players will probably go on strike because Kluivert failed a drug test just before the game in Rotterdam (when all they'll need to do is turn up and defend a 6-0 lead)

Simster, I'm not bothered how we get there. Unlike England we don't go there expecting to win, just hoping to get through to the second phase (or as we call it, the holy grail). btw, in 1998 we came second ahead of Sweden, who were the best team in the group and probably the best team not to qualify for WC98 so it wasn't a bad achievement. I don't expect us to get through this time but we'll have a lot of fun trying.

I never expect England to win. Though with respect, with the strength of the Premiership (as opposed to the SPL) we should do better than we typically do, but I certainly tip Italy, France, Germany etc to better us every time no worries.

It's only because we get all the "Scotland are on the march" crap every time, rapidly followed by "well we never expected to do well because we're only a small nation" when they crash out to Costa Rica / Tunisia / Iran / Peru etc.

You do the same every time, lose humiliatingly to someone crap (see Rica, Costa), beat the average but unspectacular team in the group (see Sweden) then lose "pluckily and unluckily" (but inevitably) to Brazil. It's tiresome, why not beat the crap team and the average team, then you might have enough to scrape through even when you lose to Brazil. DOH!

Scotland have never had cause to raise expectations !

Better not get into any rant about Jocklands achievements and "wha's better than us" Jambo, because England have constantly proved to be far superior .

Look, I'm trying to show as much humility as possible here, but The ENGERLAND are just so much better at fitba .

(and we have one more World Cup win than your lot will EVER have!) :drink:

Anyone else heard the "warm balls" conspiracy theory, explaining why the top four seeds avoided each other in today's draw?

FIFA Rankings for each team..

Spain 3
Holland 7
Turkey 8
Croatia 23
Norway 25
Russia 28
Slovenia 33
Wales 53
Scotland 53
Latvia 73

Ranking of play-off teams...

1 v 5 (Spain Vs Norway)
2 v 9 (Holland Vs Scotland)
3 V 10 (Turkey V Latvia)
4 v 7 (Croatia Vs Slovenia)
6 v 8 (Russia Vs Wales)

Random draw!?!? :lolol:

It's the "we're only a small nation" bit that always irritates me. No you're not, you're medium-sized. Scotland's got a population of about five million. Uraguay has a population of only about 3 million and they've won the World Cup twice. Denmark have won the European championships. Both those countries are more than capable of beating 'bigger' nations (i.e. those with a higher head count).

If size of population meant anything every final of every event would be between the USA and China.
