It is understood that Torquay coach Leroy Rosenior is on the shortlist for the vacant manager's position at Brighton & Hove Albion, report BBC Radio Devon.

Torquay chairman Mike Bateson would only confirm that Brighton are interested in Rosenior and declined to comment further.

However, it's believed Rosenior is among those being interviewed for the Brighton job - made vacant by former manager Steve Coppell's switch to Reading earlier this month.

The man for the Albion?

Rosenior has a 12-month rolling contract, and Mr Bateson said: "We would seek compensation in the event of a club coming in for him."

He added: "We are very keen to keep hold of Leroy. But he's never made any secret of his desire to move to a bigger club."

United just missed out on the Division Three play-offs at the end of Rosenior's first season at Plainmoor last term.

they would seek compensdation though. That'll turn DK off unless it aint much, suppose some of the £230k from SC could go towards it

he sounds the best option for manager, just hope that we can get him!

I don't think he's the best option.

Can't see Dick paying compensation.

High up on the South Downs.
Rosenior has done an excellent job at Torquay. He is a highly rated coach and, as an ex-Fulham player, Brighton's not far from home. I don't know but he could be a good choice.

could be a good choice, but who knows only 1 season dosent make him very experienced. he may have just inherited a good bunch of upcoming players. maybe worth a try though. depends on how much compensation they want, this would determine how big a risk he is.

I have to confess i don't know a lot about him...but....div 3 manager coming to manage a Div 2 side which is expected to be Div 1 next season??? Quite a jump for him?

The thoughts of Leroy Rosenior...

"People say we concede a lot of goals. We can make our defenders better and we'll do that," said Rosenior.

"But that's our nature. We try and create chances and entertain. That's the way I've been brought up".

"I prefer to draw a game like that (2-2) than 0-0. Sometimes it goes for you and sometimes it doesn't".

"I won't be at a club where we defend for 80 minutes every game".

"If people want us to sign a 6ft 7in centre-half who can't run or pass, I won't be here".

Could be fun.

At work - probably
He sounds like he's done okay an a small budget at Torquay, they are 7th afterall. btw he could bring their centre forward David Graham with him - he's pretty good!!! Oh, and I guess Helen Chamberlain could always re-acqaint herself with Jonah!!!

I am happy with him, sounds a good prospect so lets not make a judgement if he is the man but back him all the way.

Compensation wouldn't be a big deal imo. We would have got some for Coppell. We would have to pay the remainder of his Torquay contract probably. 3rd division manager - can't be to much. We'll use the Coppell cash and have some spare.

I think Torquay started coming out with the ‘hands off’ messages just before Coppell left for Reading. The Torquay Chairman said at the time that LR had done an excellent job last year and was continuing that this year and was getting the best out of the players.

Leroy is the man!! Turned Torquay from perrenial (sp!) relegation candidates to play-off contenders. Slight problem being Torquay are my second team....but fcuk it Brighton are my first!!
