It is understood that Torquay coach Leroy Rosenior is on the shortlist for the vacant manager's position at Brighton & Hove Albion, report BBC Radio Devon.
Torquay chairman Mike Bateson would only confirm that Brighton are interested in Rosenior and declined to comment further.
However, it's believed Rosenior is among those being interviewed for the Brighton job - made vacant by former manager Steve Coppell's switch to Reading earlier this month.
The man for the Albion?
Rosenior has a 12-month rolling contract, and Mr Bateson said: "We would seek compensation in the event of a club coming in for him."
He added: "We are very keen to keep hold of Leroy. But he's never made any secret of his desire to move to a bigger club."
United just missed out on the Division Three play-offs at the end of Rosenior's first season at Plainmoor last term.
