First Division leaders Wigan have had a bid accepted for Peterborough striker Leon McKenzie. The clubs have agreed an undisclosed fee for the 25-year-old, but Wigan are struggling to meet the player's personal terms. Wigan boss Paul Jewell said: "We've spoken to the player's agent but he's looking for too much money. "That means that at the moment, no progress is going to be made." "We've had a bid accepted by Peterborough for the player but that's basically as far as it's gone so far."
McKenzie has scored 51 goals in 94 league starts for Peterborough since joining the club, initially on loan, from Crystal Palace in August, 1998. He has been in good form this season, scoring seven goals, including six in his last six games.
