If you only rely on stats rather than using your eyes, you will struggle to get a proper picture. Sergei Rebrov has scored one less then Leon this year, is he crap? Ruud Van Nistelrooy also has one goal from open play this year, is he crap?

He's a striker, how many good goals has he scored this year?

Teddy Sheringham is a striker, but even in his prime, rarely got shitloads of goals - it may just be that Leon is more of a creative player at this level, playing to his strengths, it's just that we have no-one else in the side who can finish.
