Shit for us, as the three held are attackers. Hopefully they'll recall Brooker before Benjamin!

Sex charges for Leicester three

Leicester City player Frank Sinclair appeared in court on Friday
Three Leicester City footballers have been charged with sexual aggression and breaking and entering after an alleged attack at a Spanish hotel.
Paul Dickov, Frank Sinclair and Keith Gillespie, who deny the charges, have spent two days in custody in Spain.

The judge in Cartagena said the charges were serious enough to go to trial.

The men were arrested after three women alleged they were attacked. A fourth player was released on bail and charges against two others were dropped.

Club 'confident'

Speaking outside the court, a club spokesman said they were pleased the three players had been released.

"We are working with out legal representatives to secure the release of our remaining three players.

"We are very confident in the Spanish legal process and have every confidence in the innocence of our players. We hope they will be returning to England very shortly," he added.

Earlier, the club's chief operating officer Paul Mace had said all the players "consistently and strenuously denied" the allegations.

All six footballers had spent Thursday night in custody before appearing in court on Friday for a hearing held behind closed doors.

Under the Spanish legal system, a judge has 72 hours from the time of the arrest to decide whether to proceed with charges.

On Friday afternoon, the Clerk of the Court said Mr Gillespie, Mr Dickov and Mr Sinclair have been formally charged with "sexual aggression with penetration," the nearest Spanish legal equivalent to rape.

Team-mate James Scowcroft was ordered to pay 20,000 euro (£13,300) bail and has to report to a Spanish consulate in the UK twice a month.

He has been questioned over claims of breaking and entering and failing to assist a victim of a crime.

Charges against Matt Elliott and Lilian Nalis were dropped on Friday.

Identity parade

The Premiership club were training at the La Manga sports complex when three German women say they were assaulted by men who broke into their hotel bedroom.

The women gave evidence for a second day on Friday, and an identity parade was believed to have been held.

The women and the six players had given evidence on Thursday.

Danny Coyne and Nikos Dabizas, questioned over breaking and entering and failing to help the women, were provisionally released.

Steffen Freund, who was quizzed about failing to help a victim of crime, was released without charge.

'Something wrong'

Mr Mace said the club treated the situation with "the utmost seriousness" and would be launching its own internal investigation.

He added "something has gone seriously wrong" during the training visit to La Manga which had "undermined" preparations for an upcoming game against Birmingham City.

The nine players were originally arrested after the three women complained to police at Alicante airport, as they were about to fly home to Germany.

The alleged victims were found to have suffered injuries to various parts of their body when examined by doctors at Alicante general hospital and police doctors.
