Well I'm happy for you Wilts, but as for 'argument' you are making a case for me to start liking reading and want them to succeed ? Why, what's in it for you ? I remain in disdain....so you failed there sunshine, didn't you !?

Whatever you say about "it was Pardue" and "Madjesty couldn't help it, it was a complete coincidence that copout came into the frame" doesn't impress - I can't BLAME madjesty for wanting to be successful, I can't BLAME you for supporting his wishes - it sure beats someone selling your club down the road or having no dosh to put in. I don't hate reading supporters, I don't hate that you have a stadium that's decent. I DO want Brighton to do well and I DON"T like any other teams tempting our decent loaners, players, or managers away from us.

Don't you get it ? I reserve the right to NOT want reading to succeed now that we have lost our manager with no replacement, and I stated my reasons....and you see fit to argue them all you want.

MY QUESTION TO YOU;
Do you or did you enjoy Pardew leaving ? Did you want West Ham to do wonderfully>? Why....or why NOT ? Do you have any reasons of your own for not particularly wanting another team to sweep clean ? WELL I HAVE MINE ! No amount of argument from your side is going to change it but it's interesting that you should even try !!

I hope reading don't go up. I hope reading get beat by crapstal polish. That's IT, you can call it what the f*** you like but it won't change my opinion and my opinion won't change your support and I don't expect it to.
I'll tell you what mate - send me some money, and I'll give it some more consideration - and I'll listen to your 'argument' and nod politely, alright ? Money, that'll be nice.

"Sidwell - bought from Arsenal while on loan to Brighton - arguably cherry-picking but I would be pissed off if it happened to us"

So, right there you concur that you would be pissed off if it happened to you, and I seem to recall west ham peeved you just a little. There was also the Ingimarsson connection, which you chose to leave off. So, you see the point of being "pissed off if it happened to us" but I get on your tits ?

purrlease !

When will supporters of all football clubs over England finally realise the only true loyalty in football is from us fans! Players, managers and directors come and go but we are always therewind rain or shine.

I don't hate Coppell for going to Reading, if he lost 7-10 games in a row for example people would have been calling for his head, he made his choice he went for better financial security and better facilities. In football i think players and managers have it drummed into them from an early age, look after number one.

Don't want Hull, Spurs, Leicester to fall into obscurity either.
But Palace can lose as much as possible as far as i am concerned! But not go bust as the we wouldn't have the rivalry anymore!

Another reason for not wanting clubs to fall into obscurity is that we went through it a few years ago and it wasn't nice.
I wouldn't want other genuine fans of other clubs to go through that aswell.

I have no problem with Reading. Pardew stoked the fires by being a mouthy tosser when we won the league, and they did very well last year due in no part to having a decent stadium and facilities. Sidwell chose to join Reading, and if we were making a rational rather than emotional choice, we would do the same.

We feel about Reading the same way they feel about West Ham, slighltly cheated, especially in the way that Pardew/Coppell initially declared their allegiance to the club, then prevaricated and left the clubs in the lurch after a promising start to the season. Some of SC's comments were patronising in the extreme ("I'm only a simple football manager" the bloke has a degree, not a GCSE in needlework. He claimed to need time to think things over but in fact was playing cat and mouse to earn himself a better contract. He left us on a Thursday afternoon, giving BB less than 48 hours to sort out a team for the Saturday, whereas Reading did not have a game that weekend), and in doing so lost all the goodwill that he had deservedly earned over the previous 12 months

If we were 12th in Div 2 rather than top of the league there would have been little fuss about Coppell going.

Now tell me "I disapprove of your reasons for being pissed off".

That'll really put me on your side, and make me look completely wrong.

Now if you'll excuse me.......... :lolol:

Well I hardly expect you to be on my side after you likened us to bloody Franchise. I can see that winning you over is about as simple as creating a working peace process in the West Bank.

Of course I do. I never disagreed with you that we've cherry-picked a couple of players from Division 1/2. Even though some Reading fans may argue that Sidwell comes under the "cast off from the Premiership" category, at least I'll give you the fact that Brighton (and Brentford) made him the player he is.

Your argument was that it is this "cherry-picking" that underlies the whole principle of our club, and yet we only have 2/3 players out of 25+ that fit that critieria. Hence I didn't see the argument!

Of course I understand. After all this is a Brighton board and you are a Brighton fan. As you probably know I do like your club an' all. If any club took away our manager then I'd be equally pissed off. Hence I want West Ham to fail purely because Pardew is there.

The crux of what you said though, is true, and remains true for all us proper football fans. You said:

"I DO want Brighton to do well and I DON"T like any other teams tempting our decent loaners, players, or managers away from us".

...and that is spot on. If any of our players want to leave, then I'll be damn f*cked off. Gillingham are damn annoyed with the prospect that Marlon King might want to move, Everton don't want Rooney to go to Chelsea, Liverpool don't want Owen to go. The feeling is the same for any club.

No, I didn't enjoy Pardew leaving, as we didn't think that it was a step up to leave a financially sound club with a decent team, to go to one in freefall. All they have is history. It hit us hard and we are still very bitter about it all. And I wish Pardew no success wherever he goes. It takes five years to build an empire but only one minute to fire shots towards your own side to blow them up.

I presume the same is for you. Even the same principles (i.e. its not a step up for Coppell etc...)

Ingemarsson, by the way, is clearly just a Coppell thing. Wherever he goes, the Iceman follows.

I'd love to, but my first pay cheque is on November 15th. In the meantime I remain broke and spend a great deal of time doing non-expensive things. NSC being one of them!!

Anyhow, I have no means of argument anymore, I have presented my case that RFC are not a bunch of arseholes, and that - as El P says - the hatred/dislike is strongly towards one person rather than a team. The only reason you want us to fail is because Coppell is here. If McGhee/Pardew ever went to Brighton then I would feel the same.

I can't think of anything else left to say (that is relevant anyway), so I'll leave it with you if that's alright... I'll leave it to you to sum up if you like ;) :smokin:

Well yes, I can sum up in the way that I feel you HAVE actually seen my point in a not-trying-to-change-it-anymore kinda way, and perhaps you accept that I am not about to change my wish for copout to please fall on his trousers-round-his-neck backside.
I accept that Reading fans will welcome any success from this affair, but when I look at the results every weekend - I'll be hoping to see reading on the wrong end of a lesson every time.

It's probably not until the end of time, and personally it'll feel much much better for my sympathy when reading f.c. fail to make the playoffs, and copout doesn't get to replace ferguson at Manu as he grovels off to cry when O'Neill gets that job. There's some mental 'bile' if ya like, and for the moment, reading have given reason for it.

I realise that you like Brighton & Hove Albion in some way, and there are going to be those who don't. Realise in turn that there are going to be a few more Seagulls who reserve a disdain going the other way regardless of how innoccuous and 'all part of football' it seems to your lot.
