Looks like were not the only ones with stewards wanting people to act like its the opera.

Leicester City's 'Fosse Boys' fear permanent ban from the Walkers Stadium
A group of diehard Foxes fans fear they could be permanently banned from the club after claiming they were turned away from Saturday's game.
Members of the Fosse Boys – about 50 supporters who are trying to crank up the atmosphere at the Walkers Stadium – say they were threatened with permanent bans and arrest at the game against Reading if they entered as a group.
It follows about 22 letters sent to the club from fellow fans complaining about noise made by the Fosse Boys at the first home game of the season against Middlesborough.
Many members of the group, who usually sing, chant, stand and wave flags from a section of the Kop (SK1), said they were refused entry on Saturday.
Dominic Manning of the Fosse Boys said: "We were told by stewards that as a group we are no longer welcome in the grounds.
"Apparently we are allowed in as individuals but if we try to come in as the Fosse Boys we could be totally banned or even arrested.
"It seems that the powers that be see us as a threat but I don't believe that we hinder the enjoyment of the match for anyone."
According to the Fosse Boys, about 20 members were refused entry, despite being allowed to buy tickets.
A Fosse Boys member, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of losing his season ticket, said: "A few of the group were allowed through but most were held outside and refused entry.
"If we have been banned for good as a group then Leicester City, the club, that my family has supported for many generations and that I have spent untold amounts of my time and money on following, will be able to count my support no longer."
Female member Deb Breward, 46, said: "We were made to sit down for the whole game when people sat right in front of us were allowed to stand unchallenged.
"We are a good-natured group of supporters who just want to cheer on our team – I'm nearly in my 50s for goodness' sake – I'm not there to cause trouble.
"Lots of my friends were denied entry. The club took their money off them, let them buy tickets and beer, but then turned them away at the gates just because they were wearing Fosse Boys scarves. What a joke."
Fosse Boys members who managed to get into the ground smuggled in a banner which read "Supporters Not Customers", which they unfurled at the end of the match.
Bystanders said they were consequently threatened by stewards with a citizens' arrest.
Amanda Jacks from the Football Supporters' Federation commended the supporters' efforts.
She said: "The Fosse Boys will continue to have our full support and we are very concerned at how Leicester City appear to be treating them.
"It's clear that they wanted to work with the club to bring atmosphere, colour and passion to the Walkers – not something that troublemakers or hooligans would do."
Leicester City did not respond to requests for a statement yesterday.
Previously a spokesman said: "We are pleased supporters want to improve the atmosphere within the stadium, but all supporters must adhere to the safety regulations in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment."

Going to football as we used to know it has been absolutely murdered.

"all supporters must adhere to the safety regulations in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment."

The authorities have eradicated all semblance of atmosphere and banter with their "sit down shut up" policy, which is justified as being "for everyones safety and enjoyment". Its a crock of shit, and I YEARN for those days in the North Stand when we could strike up a chant of "P-A-L-A-C-E STEVIE COPPELLS GOT VD" etc. Try that at Withdean now, and you'll have a herd of high-viz jobsworths shuffling up to you to escort you to the gate for a 'quiet chat'.

I don't recall anyone at the Goldstone suffering life-changing psychological injuries from a bit of colourful language and sweary chanting. But of course, this doesn't fit in with the "family image" the Albion and seemingly every other club want to tediously peddle on everyone who attends. I'm not saying I want to shout out 'f***ing C@*#TS' all afternoon, or sit with someone who does, but its a football match, not the theatre and expletives are all part of it.

f***ing all-seaters. They really have stolen half the enjoyment of football, permanently.

spot on. But all these embarassing ultras are not exactly the solution. the whole fun is the spontinaety and people making up silly songs pissed on trains with their mates. not f***ing getting all organised. they remind me of morris dancers, all contrived middle aged bloke fun.

people are easily cowed. it never ceases to amaze me how 20 odd years ago full time coppers could not keep the lid on things, now its some spastics on 6 quid an hour in a high viz vest acting like lord god almighty, and some people love it and think its better.

Obviously none of us saw what went on but the fact that 22 people found them annoying enough to bother writing complaints about them suggests perhaps there's more to this than the Fosse Boys (stupid name) are making out.

I mean, some people irritate me at Withdean, but to the extent that I'd actually write in to the club to get them chucked out? Nope.

Is stewarding getting tougher because the football authorities are getting tougher?

Wolves now have a zero-tollerance approach to prolonged standing because they have been threatened with Molineux's capacity being reduced. I wonder if Leicester have recieved a similar threat from the powers that be.

Wolverhampton Wanderers|Please don't persistently stand

If they have, Leicester City FC should be saying so.

Has anything EVER happened from people (gasp) standing in a seated area ? Because its not like it doesn't go on en-masse at football grounds all over the country. Just watch the next Man City or Liverpool game, SWATHES of people standing there seemingly for most of the game.

If someone has been sent sprawling over the seat in front of them, twisted their spine and ended up in a wheelchair for the remainder of their days then fair do's, I must have missed it in the news. But this draconian SIT THEE DOWN attitude "for our own safety" really is a crock of old shit. How about the notion that people can take responsibility for their OWN SELVES and their OWN SAFETY and watch a f***ing football match however they see fit ?

Or lets just go the whole hog and have the clubs start handing out cotton wool jumpsuits at the turnstile for us all to wear at the game, in case we catch our elbow on something.

Sake.

seems to me reading that that the 'powers that be' re Wolves are just dispassionately applying the rules. Fair enough you need people like that to keep the wheels turning. Thing is it sounds like they would not know a thing about it, if fans themselves had not GRASSED.

I am sure a club would not go to the local authority and say we have a problem we cannot control please threaten to shut us down to get some people to toe the line.

Same at Leicester. People squealed up their fellow fans.

True, not sure I'd want to "join a gang" as such.
But the point remains - they've been chucked out for standing up, chanting and singing and trying to get a bit of atmosphere going in the sterile environment of a new(ish) all-seater stadium.

The Amex will have absolutely ZERO atmosphere if this policy is pursued. And going by the current standards, it sadly looks like this will be very much the case.

Here's an idea ( a contraversial and possibly impractical one ! ), how about a boycott of the ramp up matches at Falmer - most of us really want to see the first competitive match but the firendlies will be meaningless. That way the club won't be able to test out it's stewarding procedures. If they agree to review the current and future procedures with the fans then we'll agree to go ?

If they can't test their stewardnig procedures (and everything else) in the ramp-up events, then the club can't get the safety certificate from the council.

If they can't get the safety certificate from the council, then we will be kicking off season 2011/12 at Withdean.

That'll be a 'naah' from me...

They need the certificate BEFORE any matches are played, friendly or not.

Well, you mentioned boycotting ramp-ups, and its the ramp-ups that are required in order to test capacity etc and get the certificate. Obviously the safety certificate will have to be in place before a friendly match is played.

Anyhoo regardless, we are not going to be starting off at the Amex talking of boycotts, thats just lunacy.

Agreed, but if Hebberd has his way, the Amex will be like the Falmer version of Glyndebourne. Oh well, at least the locals won't be able to complain if we're all sitting down listening to Cosi fan Tutte. Not much danger of the local bat population being disturbed either, is there?:tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tantrum::tantrum:

If the other Leicester fans (those who didn't kick up about a group daring to make a noise inside a football stadium) don't like what's happening, they should protest by rigidly adhering to the rules for an entire 90 minutes. They'd soon have the club imploring them to 'get behind the team' if they sat there mute for an entire game, breaking only to issue polite applause at the times designated as acceptable by the club.

Easy's spot on with all this. It's the inevitable consequence of all-seaters, coupled with the fact that we're no longer allowed to decide for ourselves what constitutes safe and what doesn't. We're clearly all too juvenile and can't be trusted.

It's also a sad reflection of the way things are going, that on here the supporters at Leicester who are trying to do something about it are viewed as a bunch of saddos by some. The authorities would love that - divide and conquer, get fans to make other fans so quiet and compliant that they don't have to spike the burgers with valium any more or wear earmuffs to keep out the sound of that horrible chanting.

How about a mass protest at Peterborough? Chain ourselves to the railings to demand a return to terraces.

Just a thought :p
