Perhaps a stupid suggestion but as we are now we could do worse than offer Marcus Painter a months contract to help us out and put him in the shop window to help him find a another club.

Why? Is Painter going to be anywhere near match fit if he's not been at a club for pre-season? I'd rather take a chance on one of our youngsters (Makimenko) than risk a player that even when fit was never quick enough for this division. Painter always gave his all but he's not good enough, lets give Maki a chance.

How about we try for one fo the Anzhi left backs, Zhirkov, played a bit at Chelsea so knows England, been transfer listed at Anzhi along with their whole squad. ahd the quality, just don't know what money he would be after.

Went to Dynamo Moscow yesterday for an undisclosed fee. Must've been a decent wedge considering they paid £13 million for him in the first place. Believe he was on around £60k at Anzhi also.

He's a local lad who held down a place in our team for over 10 years and saw off a lot of competition during that time, and won some stuff. Ok he wasn't as good as some of the players we have had since but not sure how any one can say he isn't what counts for a lower league legend.
