Wake up and smell the coffee everyone ... A PROVEN GOALSCORER WILL NOT COME TO THIS CLUB. WE ARE BROKE AND PLAY IN A NON-LEAGUE STADIUM!

Unless there is some "new" money or DK changes strategy nothing will change..we have to accept that and not keep moaning about it

He did miss many chances in that game. However he also linked the play up well and constantly occupied our defenders ( much like Harty did on Saturday ). These are the sort of attributes I think we need at the moment.

As has been said we are not going to come up with someone banging them in without having competition from other clubs with more to offer in the way of cash and facilities.

That probably applies with this fella as well.

I hope DK and MM take a look at this player... yes, he may have had a poor game against us, but so what?.... one game is iust one game... I know he was a pretty hot property at BC and looked very good for them in our play-off season... definitely worth a look...

The key issue is this: Is he better than what we've got? He's got to be better than McPhee and McCammon but is he better than CKR and Robinson? To be honest, I don't know.
We're not going to be able to get a striker who's going to bang in 15 goals on a premanent signing so should we go for a loan signing instead?

Agree he was pants but remember someone called Bobby Zamora? Some loans are good, some are bad - that's the gamble you always take with any signing.

So what do you suggest?

DK opens his wallet and gets Thierry Henry and Eto'o I suppose. Actually weren't you the guy who was on Harty's phone-in suggesting Sherringham a few months back?

Our signings will all come with "if's" "buts" and "maybe" about them. FACT!

He's NOWHERE NEAR good enough, quite fat, arrogant and would want a hefty salary...no wonder sheff wed terminated his contract.

.... and the player who is:

Much better,
In great shape,
Humble,
and prepared to play for a modest salary, is ????

Face it fake slim, Peacock is not ideal, BUT is the sort of player we are in the market for. Like it or not, that is our level in the transfer market.

He won't keep us up IMHO and rates himself too highly.

Again i'd say Shipperley (although i appreciate his shape and salary may be similar) but i'd rather have no-one than peacock

I believe that he would be an improvement on what we have and he is hardly in a position of negotiating strength to demand high wages etc. The important thing with a striker is being in the right place at the right time some will go in some wont but they wont if you ain,t there at the time.

I once went with a mate to see Spurs vWest Ham and Greaves was rubbish for 80 minutes and everybody took the piss but in the last 10 he scored a hat-trick by being where the ball was at the right time.

How fickle the memory is. He was absolutely dynamite at Bristol City, a couple of years back. I remember cheering myself silly when he was due to miss the play-off final.

Let's face it, a striker who is currently banging them in, and perhaps getting the 5 in a game you speak of, is not going to be coming anywhere near our club.

Our BEST opportunity is a player with true ability, and a goalscoring pedigree, that for one reason or another is simply not firing this season.

A change of club, a fresh start, and they rediscover their previous form. THAT is the market we are in. We must accept it!

Too true. I'd love to see Peacock come here.

Peacock may not be at the top of the wish lsit but it seems at the moment he is one of our only realistic targets. If he can do a job we should get him in. Will he want a signing on fee and if so how much do you recon?
