One point of note - don't compare picture quality like-with-like in Currys, Richer Sounds or Comet, as they are usally set to very high contrast and colour to make them look dazzling in the showroom. Stick the contrast down to 50% say and see what they look like.

LED is getting rave reviews - plasma and LCD are old technology now ...

Got a 40" Sharp from Tesco just before the WC - well happy !!

LED technology is an add on to LCD , true LED or OLED is mega expensive at the moment.

I used to think that, but I've had mine less than 4 years and it has now developed a blue stripe of stuck pixels down the middle. I'm not buying Sony again.

My Sharp LCD TV is also just under 4 years old and after 15 months developed a vertical line down the middle which I found out was where the 42 inch panel was made from 2 halves and this was the seam showing through. New LCDs dont suffer from this problem as the screen is now manufactured as a single panel.

Deffo stick with LCD.
Unlike a plasmas screen, with LCD you get zero reflections on the screen, theres no static (so it doesn't attract dust), it doesn't weigh half a tonne, and it uses less energy.

I switched from LCD to Plasma as mine stopped working:( have to say it is far better for picture quality as the colours are more natural, but agree with you about reflection, as for the weight it was not as heavy as the older plasma's.

Got a 42" Elonex LCD TV from Cheap Laptop Deals, Monitors, Hard Drives and LCD TVs | Ebuyer.com and never looked back, bought loads of stuff from there, great prices and excellent service, with most stuff over £50 they will deliver next day (£5.95 next day charge) I opted for the delivery in 5 days free and got it in 3 days, i just plugged it in and everything set itself up, got loads of extra plug in sockets too.
I can use it for TV, Sky, Computer, Game console. excellent TV
