Posted elsewhere that they have emptied and basically melted the Sony Depot at the top end of Enfield (right by M25...near J25). Totally gutted it...and it's a very very large building.

Well now they've moved along to The Sainsbury's Depot just along the road near Waltham Cross. Caller to LBC Radio has stated it's on fire...this building is absolutely gynormous (maybe 15 times the size of The Amex, if not more).

It's THE Sainsbury's depot for the whole of the South I believe.

If that's fully ablaze (not fully going yet) you'll be able to see it from the sky.

No images yet but this will be the headline if it's true.

Apparently it's very close to the Sony Depot - so there was some initial confusion as to which one it was, but turned out to be the Sony warehouse.

02.35 The Sony warehouse centre at 6 Solar Way, Enfield, is the only UK centre for 'Sony DADC' and a large section of the UK's digital media is stored there.
Tommy Thomson, a witness, tells BBC news he saw 20 male youths coming out the smashed doors of building, carrying consoles. One punched him before driving off. He returned to his Premier Inn hotel workplace. Five minutes later he saw the blaze rip through the warehouse. He helped evacuate guests from the hotel. He says he does not know if there was anyone in the building but many workers have evening shifts.

02.28 Jonathan Wald, CNN's London producer, says in Ealing 15 teenagers took over a bus, forced the driver out and crashed the vehicle. BBC confirms the blaze is a Sony distribution centre, Enfield. Paul Lewis, Guardian, is 200 yards away and says firefighters have the worst of the blaze under control. The building, just off the M25 motorway, is around 70m long and much of it has collapsed in on itself. Locals report an "enormous" explosion and intense heat.

02.25 Incredible footage from the ground of the enormous fire in Essex, taken from a car, on this Facebook page. Rap music and men's shouting can be heard. Locals say it is a Sony distribution centre, not a Sainsbury's depot. (via tomkingham).

Caller to radio was there but seemed to suggest was definately both...hope you are right though...the looting must've cost hundreds of millions now already.

Obviously lots of confusion but......0259: Tony Grew, ePolitix.com tweets: Huge fire in Sainsbury depot in Waltham Abbey - 750 people work there some must work nights - so scary.

Hell in a handcart.

I think it is true...if so this will be an immense inferno...at least it's farily isolated though a fire on that scale with an ill wind may engulf relatively closeby houses.

Footage now on BBC News...shows the huge fire at The Sony Depot - the building is history!

However no footage from same chopper of Sainsbury's which will be easily visible from there, so appears they haven't set that ablaze after all.

The Sony fire is enormous itself though.
