I watched the second half of the England game and then watched the whole of the Irish game.

The difference between the two games was one thing...passion.

England played without passion. Although his goalscoring redcord is great, Crouch is a camel, Rooney is woefully out of form, lampard is an embarrasment, the defence looked weak ( can someone tell Ferdinand that the more times you foul people outside the area, the more chances they are going to get to shoot), The only player to look half decent was Ashley Cole again.

Contrast that with the Irish. Every single one of the players gave their all against a very very good side...Mcshane ran his ginger bollocks off.....Henderson looked accomplished and almost got to the goal....Keane looked lively and all in all the WANTED to win the game.

It was like chalk and cheese.

I dont think we should sack McClaren, however I do think we should look at the attitude of some of our "superstars" . If someone tells me again that lampard is one of the best players in the world, I will punch them!!

And the strange thing is good Irish players, such as Keane etc are almost 100% guaranteed a place in the team as compared to England, Ireland have a very small pot of players to choose from.

Therefore they know they wont have to fight for their places whereas in theory English players should have to, the problem is England teams are not built on form players they are built on their name.

Good comparison. I was flicking between Ireland and Wales, both showed a lot more passion. Mind you, they were both at home coming off being hit for five, so they should have.

I actually don't think passion was the biggest problem for England last night. Team selection and formation were even greater killers. The players were unsure and uncertain, and nowhere was this better shown up than for the first goal.

No one quite knew who should cut out the cross, so no one did. No one quite knew who was where in the middle, so a small bloke was able to head in, while on the ground and not even jumping, in between at least two defenders. And Robinson didn't know who was doing what, so he wandered out and then back again, but a bit too late.

Our defence is about the only reliable thing, so you piss about with that and pack a five-man midfield with a load of water-carriers and a hopelessly out-of-nick Lampard, and you've got it coming to you.

Crouch was done a disservice. He was not getting much quality ball at all. Our midfield is seriously lacking punch and creativity.

Without Hargreaves, I would like Reo-Coker to play. Bring back Beckham and split up Lampard and Gerrard.

Yes, you are right though. We seriously lack passion - They could learn a thing or two from our other England teams.

Sing the :censored: national anthem, Neville!

It would be interesting to see how our players performed if they had the attitude of the smaller nations. I think it would still be a bit poo to watch but we would get more results.

Spot on Dave.

I did the same and it was horrible to watch the England team stroking the ball around in a very casual manner, whilst the Irish were TEARING into the Czechs as if their lives depended on it.

It seems as if the current England team are SCARED to express themselves.

We have some GREAT players but a poor TEAM

I think we get to caught between playing our natural running round like headless chickens game and a more intelligent, continental style. I think we would be fine if we stuck to the basics. If everyone knows and sticks to their roles and works their arses off we would feel more comfortable and do better. It works for the smaller nations and we also have some class such as Ronney and Joe Cole to make the difference.

You are obviously inept when it comes to analysing good players as anyone can see Lampard in one of the best 5 midfielders in the world. Some people only rate him on scoring goals but the bloke is all-round quality.

:lolol: Yeah, right.

He's vastly over rated, and he's not in the same league as the worlds best midfielders, such as Kaka, Ballack, Gerrard, Riquelme, Ronaldinho and Pirlo.

I watched England on Saturday - and then watched Northern Ireland. Although Denmark did not win - they overan NI in the first half - and the stark difference was movement.

England are just so static. Denmark were moving into space giving the man in possession options. England showed little of that.

Can't be movement, that falls into the same category as technique and pace. It's not that at all. :nono:

I disagree, that 'anyone' can see it. I can't;

Ronaldinho
Kaka
Riquelme
Pirlo
BECKHAM
Gerrard
Gattuso
Christiano Ronaldo
Makelele
Ballack
Hargreaves

Is that five yet?
