I took my wife along to her first ever football match. The evening was enhanced when I had the pleasure of meeting Trotster for the firs time and also saw Safeway and Fatboyfor the first time in a while.

My other half had to have the rules explained but I'm pleased to say that (despite the fact that she doesn't like 'sports') she had a ball. Sadly we won't make Bournemouth (they'd rather let seats go begging than sell them to BHA fans) but we will make Brentford which will be a 'real' game. Despite the fact that the matchwasn't much cop I now have a (abiet long distance) Albion fan in the making. The whole experience was undoubtedly made better by the fact that we were in the singing section (I had to 'translate' a lot of the chants as she can't quite grasp a raucus Sussex accent as yet).

All I need to do now is to teach her the words to Sussex by the Sea and explain just why Stevie Coppell has got VD.
