Last night I drove past the Goldstone...We must never forget

Last night I went to pick up my ticket for tonight's game and on the way back I asked my Dad to drive past where the Goldstone was. I guess with tonights game coming up I wanted visibly reminding of what it is we are all fighting for and why Falmer means so much. As we drove past it I could still see people buying programmes, late comers legging it across the park, could still almost hear the roar from the North Stand. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end and I could see my Dad was getting a bit upset.
Tonights game is not just about promotion. It is about getting to Cardiff and taking 20,000 plus fans, sticking two fingers up to the people who have tried to ruin this great club that we all love like a family member. It is about showing John Precott that he has NO choice but to give us Falmer. I think sometimes it is good to remember the bad times because they make us more determined to never let them happen again, more appreciative of what we have now. I still have a dream that we could one day return to the Goldtsone, that Dick Knight et al will hand out heavy duty building equipment and we will be allowed to knock down the Toys r Us etc and then reclaim what is rightfully ours. This is a nice daydream but nothing more then. We need to make sure that in years to come, our children dont have similar dreams about building a stadium at Falmer. We need to ensure that this club moves on. I for one believe one hundred percent that we will get Falmer, and that when we do walk out on to the pitch for the first time, much like the 26th April 1997 at the Goldstone, there will not be a dry eye in the place. This time however it will be tears of happiness, tears of relief.
This is a great great club that we are all fortunate enough to be part of. We must never forget.

I still can't go by there...I suppose I should but I'll wait until our first game at Falmer. Park the car where I always used to and hop on a train.

Then I'll drive to Mellor to strangle that fat bastard.

That brought a tear to my eye, and I'm not even a BHA fan. Shows how emotional these things make every football fan, especially as my team went out last night. Stuff it up Swindon and Prescott tonight lads and lasses, will enjoy watching on Sky!!!

Lets do what Cab says, 90 minutes of noise. Let us make sure every single fan watching on television is made aware of just how much Falmer means to us all.

I really loved the Goldstone. It had great character and I miss it terribly.

I remember being in the North Stand amidst a 25,069 crowd there vs Southampton for the FA Cup quarter final on 8th March 1986; Equally, I remembe being there for drizzly, wet reserve matches on a Wednesday night with about 30 others (you could get in for £1 or free at half time).

So very sad..........

if the truth was to be said the goalstone ground was a complete mess in it's final few years due to no money being spent on it, as for the so called brighton bosses who sold it for peanuts they should still be hanging by their testicals from brightons clock tower for the damage they done to your club, the retail pack now in its place alway looks empty.and the staff working there dont hand out any stick to me for walking around in my palace top.

would any of you work there?

I worked in Comet at the Goldstone Retail Park over Christmas, for about 3 months. Dont regret it though, as I met my girlfriend there and have never been happier. I've also seen a fair few NSC'ers shopping in there, but I wont name 'em.

Couple of weeks ago, my driving instructor tried to make me go in their and drive. I refused to set foot/tyre in the place. He understood and apologised for even thinking it. We went somewhere else. :)
