[Albion] Lamptey

The match thread is NSC Gold. It starts with pages of slagging off Lamptey as a liability and a disaster who should never be allowed on a football pitch in blue and white and it ends with him Man of the Match and pages singing his praise 🤣

....And, compared to much of the new fangled world wide web malarkey, NSC is a moderate (ish) bunch of middle aged empathetic souls.

Imagine what it was like out there in the raw and unfettered!

Gusto for Chelsea usually offers a lot for them going forward, but last night very little. Lamptey & Mitoma combo worked incredibly well & kept him back in his place.
Gusto lost 10 duels, more than anyone else who started for either team yesterday. Zero successful dribbles or accurate crosses, just the one accurate long ball

Strange only one year. That usually only comes with the club activating an option to get a fee, whereas this appears to be an agreed extension with comments about looking forward to him being with us next year.

I'm very happy with this.

It gives us options and cover in basically all 4 wide positions

Of course it's possible that we've exercised the option in order to get a sale price and that he will still move on. But for now he's an Albion player

Good news but sounds likely we executed an option he’d already agreed on the last contract.
The wording is all about 'agreed'. Maybe some security for Tariq but it only being one year I doubt a fee would be an obstacle if someone came in and wanted him.

We get a good squad player for another year or a small fee if a good opportunity comes up for him.

Don't get this at all. This is the sort of player we should be moving on like Moder. Good character, but if this means we won't bringing in another specialist RB for YET another season, then I'm not sure about this at all.
Really? Yes he's horrendously injury prone. But when he's featured he's largely performed well.

I’m delighted - he has something special about him to break up games. If Fab’s somewhat chaotic style of football is to succeed, it needs a lot of attacking talent.

Obviously we may only get 20 games out of him but that’s ok. Before bemoaning overmuch about our injury record, we have to recognise we’ve gone for a few older players and players with spotty fitness records because it gives us something extra. it’s a calculated gamble that keeps us at the top of the injury league table but a worthwhile one for me if we have a deeper squad to cover - and we are getting there now
