I have reservations about Rooney as a lone striker but that probably is our best bet. At least having Rooney up there will FORCE us to play it on the deck.

I think that can work as long as Lampard, Cole, Gerrard and Rooney operate as a unit, allowing Rooney to drop back and pick the ball up from deep. If we play 'liquid football' as Partridge put it, rather than hoff it it could work well as a slick passing formation.

lampard has had more shots in the tournament than any other player it says in the mirror 18! it's no wonder he scores goals for chelsea!
