Whilst we are prolific at scouting and signing young players it is clear it is just as important to have experienced players with international experience who are leaders and can guide these kids.

I wonder who might be out there that has the potential to perform that leadership role that we could bring in this summer? Maybe a player that might be on wages at or near the top of our budget but nearing the end of their contract.

Kante, Messi?
Lallana is doing pretty well, he's on the same page as De Zerbi.. I think and hope TB will get Lallana signing a 5 year player/coach with a huge buy out clause..De Zerbi is very likely to be taken by the end of 2024 and don't want him taking Lallana with him..

It depends which one of Lallana, Veltman and Welbeck leaves or hangs up the boots first. We’ll need to fill the on field position. I don’t think it’s coincidence that we have at least one seasoned pro in defence, in midfield and in attack.

I agree with the thought that I’d like to give Lallana a shot at coach when RDZ leaves, if he feels ready.

Will have to get a shift on going his badges if he hasn’t started already…..needs a UEFA Pro licence.

Some of the lazy journalism I’ve read recently was AliMac to City as a replacement for Gundogan. If that came to pass I’d love him to come in the opposite direction.

Gundogan wants to return to Germany, and that’s the reason he’s not signing a new deal with City.

Was thinking Jorginho would fit the mould for what we’d want- but there’s a good chance he’ll return to Italy after Arsenal. There’s no one from recent England teams that jumps out as an option. Definitely important we have a few seasoned players but expect Dunk to continue and Solly to step up.

I would hope he has.

I've got the Level 1 licence. The course involves, among other things, the candidates coaching the other candidates in small sided games and drills. Imagine turning up to Palatine Park and seeing Lallana standing there, and then being told you were pairing up with him. I'd bolt for the first train home.

(I expect pros have a slightly different set up where they can do it with other pros, but still).

Will Still is proving you don't need a pro licence though I doubt Uncle Tone would fork out the 25k ish a match in fines.

And there's still Pascal, as long as he doesn't lose his speed as he gets older ???

Pro licence takes at least a year…….and that’s obviously after getting the A, which also takes a year…….
Imagine he’s already on the path

I think you should include Steele in this list of experienced pro's who do not command first team action every game but set a fabulous example of player commitment on and off the pitch. Considering how short the career of a professional footballer really is, there is no value that can be placed on being able to simultaneously develop your brightest stars technically and emotionally to prepare them for game time and their footballing future whilst fielding an excellent side that are delivering results regularly
